I'm still trying to get under 6 minutes. I've got some techniques for saving time but I either make a mistake or don't get lucky enough with the amount of cars I pass. Anyway, I stuck one run out to get: 6'04'75

Got some time today and just tried it out a couple of times. First time that I reached the 10th finish line EVER but then with 11 seconds spare, I crashed in the ditch and it took forever to come back. With 3" left, I just finished right before the finish line and didn't get to see my time. Then again, it was a horrible on. Fastest lap I had was 35" but mostly around 50-55". Got the jumps right a couple of times after changing controller. My favorite controller was giving out on me on the D-pad Ok, getting the hang of it now. Fastest time is 6'30"15 Fastest lap I've got so far is 30"70. I see the fastest you guys got was 29"89 and 29"90 so I can't be that far off anymore. Edit: Now I've also got 29"90 which was pretty much a perfect run. I guess that would be the fastest possible lap then? 29"89 that is. Edit 2: Fastest lap (track 3) I've got is 29"43. On top of that, I even had a small encounter with a bit of dirt so it could have gone faster, unless the landing of the jumps is important and that piece of dirt actually helped me. Edit 3: Fastest lap (track 3) I've got is now 29"40. Perfect run, didn't see the 263km go down once after I reached it. Based on everybody's laps here and my own, I came up with following simulation: Top laps:1 = 45"13 2 = 43"08 3 (E) = 29"40 4 (E) = 31"03 5 (E) = 31"21 6 (E) = 33"20 7 (E) = 34"36 8 (E) = 29"88 9 (E) = 31"51 10 (E) = 32"20 ------------------ TOTAL = 5'41"00 That would be if you get an engine every possible time see below. Top points:1 = 7 2 = 9 (16) --> Engine 3 = 9 (25) --> Engine 4 = 10 (35) --> Engine 5 = 11 (46) --> Engine 6 = 20 (66) --> Engine 7 = 19 (85) --> Engine 8 = 20 (105) --> Engine 9 = 19 (124) --> Engine 10 = 20 (144) --> Engine The only flaw in this top time would be that the number of people you overtake could be related to your time. If it is completely random, then this is close to the fastest time possible.

My partner gifted me this gem for xmas, so hopefully I can post a time soon as I do runs in between trying to dance our nightowl baby to sleep. I made it to the final track last night before plummeting to my doom. But soon, I'll join the ranks of the "life riders." Although it is sure to be at the bottom of the ranks, because you guys with the 6'00'' times seem to be video cyborgs. As a kid, I was so disappointed that they changed the perspective from the arcade version that I never gave this game a second glance. But I can see its appeal now, on its own terms. The scenery is nicely drawn and it is a thrill when you're hitting the jumping technique correctly.

I officially became a "life rider" tonight with a time of 8'02"46. The water and cliff stages took their toll on me badly. Mostly it's the other bikers getting in my way that throws me off, as I think I have the courses fairly well memorized by now.
I'll strive to improve. However, these wise words come to mind... "the results are insignificant... the only thing that really matters is that you begin the long and trying trek...."

That's great! I really enjoy CGR and Mark's perspective on games (most of the time). I'm also glad to see that his time is 9'11"04, so we can list him in last place instead of me.

I noticed in the comments of the CGR video where someone mentioned that the Japanese version of Enduro Racer has 10 unique tracks rather than repeating the five tracks twice. Sure enough, looking at my emulator files, the Japanese version appears to be a "two mega" cartridge -- 256 kb -- while the western versions are 128 kb. I had never noticed this or heard about it before, so I fired it up in the emulator and it's great. Five more tracks, ranging from snow to the beach, a few of which are even more challenging with rocks and other obstacles strewn liberally about the courses. There are also more spectators, a few more colors for the opponent racers, and there's a course map at the end of the game that shows you how far you got, similar to the ones we've seen in Super Hang On and Out Run. Check it out if you haven't tried it already.

I'm so pissed off today! I had an absolutely perfect run, with time 5'18" after finishing stage 9. And due to my stress I ruined everything on last stage by crashing twice and finally did 6'8". It would be an amazing time...

It would be an amazing time... Don“t give up Nick! I know how such a mistake could piss off. As I was playing for my OutRun record, I crashed so often by driving through the last stage.. ;D The key is to practice a game, being patient, and try it every day 2-4 times. One day, you will beat it and get your record

It would be an amazing time... You're still at this I see! Tough break with crashing on the final stage, I'm sure you'll make it under 6 minutes eventually. I've pretty much given up on this one now so I thought I'd share something I discovered. Tapping the accelerator whilst in the air makes you float a bit further and saves time. You can also tap the brake button but I'm not it works quite as well. Using emulation, where I can assign button 2 rapid-fire to an extra button, I was able to get some quick times. It's a tricky technique which I didn't quite master, but perhaps someone else can. Careful though, if you float over the finish line you'll crash the game!

The 6 minute barrier has been broken! I have the photo evidence; but apparently its too big for me to attach...but 5'54"50 is the offical time to beat.

RULESRace until Completion or Elimination. Photographic evidence is required for first place. What is it they say... oh yeah, pics or it didn't happen That's an awesome time tho, I've been meaning to try Ian's trick with my turbo pad, but haven't gotten around to it.

Got me a time of 5'59"64, and that was on a rather bad run. I know I can shave off a couple seconds from this, but this'll do for the time being.
