I found the 'olde English' text really frustrating. "what wilst thou do?" Etc The map is nice to have though, although my copy is incredibly tatty

Really a great game, much better than Dragon Warrior. I like the non-linear aspects of some of it, and the potential for different approaches. Also really enjoyed finding the secret areas where it was more fruitful to gain levels and/or money.

Agreed. Japanese developers never could get RPGs right, just like Hydlide those games were bad tries compared to Ultima, Dungeon Master, Lords of Midnight, Bard's Tale, Wizardry or the really old Dunjonquest series. I guess that's why they developed their crappy niche of "JRPG" which were never RPG's but Action-Adventures with linear and simple gameplay. And yes, i own Miracle Warriors, played it several times...it's not good, it sucks

I just finally played it and I enjoyed Miracle Warriors. I've played pretty respectable list of 8/16-bit JRPGs (at least turn-based ones, not fan of action-RPG) and I thought MW was refreshing, having surprising differences to the later standards of the genre.

One of my favorites. I wish the US version had the cloth map and the metal miniature to keep track of your location.
