I mostly play in 60hz now, even though that's not how I experienced the games originally. However it really depends on the game, most of the earlier stuff is better played in 60hz, as that's how it was intended to be played.

SMS1 is easy enough, the solder pads are already on the board to wire a switch on to, and there's a single trace to cut. The SMSII is fiddly as you have to detach and solder onto a chip leg, which is very easily snapped off. I always recommend a SMSI as a main playing machine anyway, as its got RGB out as standard and the card slot too. masterland.skooterweb.com/5060.txt

I prefer 60Hz, even though I grew up with 50Hz.

Prefer 50Hz because that's the speed I'm used too and grew up on.
But there are a couple of games that I just can't play anymore in 50Hz. Tennis Ace is one, the gameplay (at least until you can upgrade your player) feels so slow and tedious that I have to play in 60Hz now just so I won't get bored to death. Which is kind of sad considering it was one of my favourite games growing up.

If I’ve never played a game before then 60Hz is fine.

I'm not sure on how it works on Europe, but here in Brazil, we usually get a lot of flicker on 50Hz, so I mostly stick to 60Hz. It's sad that some games, like Forbidden Siren on the PS2, won't come with 50Hz/60Hz switches, as sometimes it's even hard to read information onscreen.

Works fine here both ways (sounds lewd). It's not a TV Issue then?
And to connect back to the question in a new way now that you pointed out PS2 games, even though I prefer 50Hz on SMS games, I always pick 60Hz when I get a choice on PS2 and 360 games.

I grew up with 50hz and it was a bit jarring at first but 60hz is just so much better.
