I'm going to play SMS all day today to celebrate its birthday in the US. How come Wikipedia says June 1986? Also seems weird that there is no exact date there.

I'm going to play SMS all day today to celebrate its birthday in the US. How come Wikipedia says June 1986? Also seems weird that there is no exact date there. I think I got it here: www.giantbomb.com/sega-master-system/60-8/I had that date in my notes so it could be wrong. I can't remember exactly where it came from. My friend was interested in finding release dates for games but this was the only date we could find. Kind of odd the link above says both June and October 16th. I remember the first time I saw a SMS. I was at my friends (this guy is basically a brother to me, one summer he never went home) house and his dad worked at an electronics store. We were fairly bored that night until his dad came home from work and had a SMS and like 6 or 7 games for it. This was just out of the blue, no birthday, no holiday just hey kid here's a SMS. I know that had to be October or November 86 because it was cold outside. I remember because after that night I wanted one so bad and knew I had a few months to wait for Christmas. With that being said it could have been June and it was around October that he brought it home, knowing his dad though it was probably soon after his store got it. Another reason I remember is he would wake up before school to play Black Belt so it couldn't have been summer. Lets see if I can remember the games from that night. Hang On / Safari Hunt Black Belt Choplifter F-16 Fighting Falcon Fantasy Zone Rambo: First Blood Part 2 World Grand Prix Games he got in the following months Enduro Racer Great Golf Kung-Fu Kid Ninja, The Pro Wrestling Rocky Teddy Boy That list of games is more special to me than my own list of first games lol EDIT: Europe says fall 1986 in that link, maybe today is the release date there? I wonder why they would say "fall" if they have the exact date?

Not really sure. October 16th would be a more logical date to release a new system. I don't think they would have released it in the middle of Summer, but maybe I could be wrong. Either way, I'm still playing SMS all day today to celebrate. lol
