SMS can theoretically take any size you like, using a custom mapper, but the "normal" mapper gets you up to 4MB. No games bigger than 1MB exist (yet), unless you count multi-game carts.

Thx for this info. I bought a ghostbusters and bought a 27c1001 eprom. Seems that the eprom is bigger than the one on the G.B. motherboard. Can this be? Just experimenting with it so i have much to learn.

hi there. hope someone can help. I burned a 27C2001 with Dinobasher the other day and read it to test with an emulator and everything was fine. I soldered it to a 315-5365 pcb which I got from Operation Wolf doner cart but I get software error on the master system.

Did you patch the ROM to use the Sega mapper instead of the Codemasters one, and update the header?

I don't think a public patch exists, but it's likely reproduction makers have done the work before and kept it private in order to make more money.

Can anyone help me with how to patch and change header with Dinobasher. I have bought everything for this game like cart case etc but cant get game working. Thanks :-) Is it only codemasters games that need this or will I have to do this for say hook or sonic triple trouble.

1. Learn a bit of assembler 2. Debug the game in Meka to find when it does mapping - or just use a disassembly 3. Patch the mapper write addresses to the Sega versions 4. Use a header tool to recalculate the checksum 5. Patch the header 6. Create an IPS using an IPS tool
I can go into more details if necessary but it gets technical fast. This is all to make a Codemasters game work on a Sega mapper board (or an old emulator), in general you don't have these issues.
