I should take a better look at Heroes of the Lance with emulator. I'm DrangonLance fanboy, read tens of books and played couple games. Of the about twenty games I've had, After Burner is the weakest. Just so repetitive and pointless. If I remember correctly, you can get through first 2/3 of levels by holding (up?) diagonal direction. Double Dragon was disappointing for me because it's so 2-player oriented and I rarely had anyone to play with My Hero disappointed me because it was the one and only game I happened to get years after all others and it's... kind of primitive even on 8-bit scale - and too hard for me.

If you have to get an Atari ST or emulator and play that version. The game is pretty bad but the ST version is the "best" of them all with the Master System version ranking just slightly above the NES and PC versions.

The first game that comes to my mind is Cyber Shinobi. I remember my dad buying it a local Sunday market from a games seller. The cover looked awesome with the ninja and flames. And going on the name, it was about robot ninjas, how cool is that?!
Well as it turned out, it was awful. I'm not sure I ever got past the second level as a kid and I got no enjoyment from the game at all. No matter how many times I tried to like it and give it a chance (you had to in them days, getting a new game was a rare treat), I just couldn't.

I'd go with Miracle Warriors. This one should've stayed in the vintage computer graveyard. Woah, woah, what bro? Solid game! Explain thyself! Lol, you realize you're quoting someone from 2010 don't you Stan? You have a valid point nevertheless.

Childhood disappointment.... Zillion 2 What a joke compared to first. Adult disappointment.... Danan: the jungle fighter Always wanted it as kid, had hopes of it being on the level of Rastan. Not even close

I was just thinking of starting a topic like this. Top of my list, Alex Kidd in Shinobi World. Too short. I really like the game and it left me wanting more. Joe Montana football. Had potential, but seriously, how does sega release a football game in 1990 only being able to play one game?!? No other modes at all?

Can't believe I didn't comment on this thread the first time around. There are a couple for me. First up is championship Hockey: I actually bought this brand new when it was first out, having not seen any reviews at the time. The box art is excellent, the screenshots on the back made it look like it was good quality - a cut down NHLPA for the Master System... And then I turned it on... Oh...
Secondly was Streets of Rage II. I loved the original, and whilst I don't think the second for the SMS is terrible, I was disappointed because I think it was worse than the original, which shouldn't have happened.
Finally, and a lot will disagree with me here - Sonic 2. It is definitely not a bad game, and I grew to like it, but initially playing it, it just didn't feel like Sonic to me.

I remember the first game I ever returned to the store because of how much I hated it was Alien 3. I'm not entirely sure why my mom and I bought it in the first place, might've been cheap or something. We ended up bringing it back the next day, and picked up New Zealand Story instead. That one I did end up keeping.

I was so excited to get Bart versus the Space Mutants for Christmas, but it was so underwhelming. I never even got past the first level until playing it again as an adult.
