On the river level, try to stay on the lowest log, you have a better chance there, and you have at least 2-3 opportunities to hit more than one ninja with a single star. Boss can't get close to you from there either. On the horse level I run to avoid the horses instead of disappearing, saves the problem he mentions, but it's still hard to get the 100 because you have to do it on the boss since there aren't any chances to hit more than one fire-breather. You only have a single chance at two hits on the boulder level, and it's not easy to get. To me, the hardest part is the wall climb because so many stars are flying at you. To try to get the ratio, make sure you focus on hitting two ninjas at once in the lower portions where they only come from the left and right because you're going to waste some later right before the boss.

Still can't make it past that level after the logs, although I finally got 100% on the logs. My strat there was just to stay on that slow middle log the whole time, since it gives you lots of time to kill each guy and not have to worry about any quick fires directly at you. One thing I don't like about the scoring, and it's got me several times...if you have 100% and then you shoot like 8 stars right at the boss but the first five kill him before your other three can make it there, then those three count against your score, giving you less than 100%. Lame!
Upped the score ever so slightly, though, to 273,300.

Nice, getting there! Yeah, that's why you need a buffer to keep the percentage, taking every possible opportunity to hit more than one enemy in the row. You have to assume that on nearly every boss you're going to lose some of your hits saved up because of the stars or his bolo things you hit.

If I actually had some time to play this I think I could actually rack up a good score. All I could do was one round tonight and I just aced it for the first five levels and then made one silly mistake on the level six boss and had trouble getting my way back up. I finally beat him and made it to the horse level, and then died instantly. What, you just have to avoid them? I was trying to knife them for my sole life, but that didn't last long.
Anyway, upped my score by a fair margin, but didn't break 300,000 yet: 296,950.

I just vanish to avoid the horses and then shoot the fire breathing men with horizontal shots once I've run up or down the screen to get level with them. Piece of cake. Shouldn't lose any lives on that level!

You bet I'm into it! And here I thought the game was weak when I first tried it out. Made it much further this time - I scaled to the top of the wall but got beat down at the boss because of the four ninjas. Other than that ending, the rest of the level is pretty darn easy. I had a great run, though. I got 100% on every level until the horse level. I kept throwing the shirukens when I'd vanish so from that point on it was a lost cause. Still, managed to up my score considerably...
397,600!

Alright, had to try it once more after that run - and I beat it! Got past the wall climb, it's actually pretty easy once you get a strategy. Just take the side ninjas out one at a time and climb down the wall to be able to isolate single shooters. I forgot to pick up the scroll at the boss though, so I passed it without it. I hadn't died once until I got to the next level and wow, I got owned. Those four dudes with the scythes show no mercy at the start of Level 10. Ugh, I just want to finish it at this point and then move on to a nice all consuming RPG.
Point score is now...422,650. I took a picture but my iPhone won't email it to me. That's why I'm a Windows man. ;D

392,250 - picture to follow when I find the lead to connect my phone to the PC... I'm catching you guys up now, mastered pretty much every level, I just can't do the hidden level on stage 10 no matter how many times I try it, always get hit by an unseen throwing star . Levels 11 and 12 are easy in comparison . I'm going to put some real playtime into this next week, I reckon I can ace this one

Just did a near perfect run and managed a score of... 607,850!!! (I'll post a pic later) I only messed up on 2 levels, 5 & 9 (river and wall levels), other than those two I got 100% all the way. Also used ian's tip and toyed with the regenerating enemies for a while. I think this score's gonna take some beating, but it is possible .

Wow, ninja you monster! Congrats on the score...we've all got some work to do now. On the river it works for me if you just stay on that same middle log the entire round. That way midway through you can get a double hit on the guys down low, which will give you just enough grace to shoot diagonal right at the boss at the end.

I'm glad you beat my score. It meant I got to have another go and try a new tactic. And needless to say, it worked. My new high score is 1,561,450Just went through the game as normal getting as many 100% as often as I could, but where I really picked up all my points was at the end. Instead of going into the basement, I kept looping the last 3 levels. And with a bit of practice it's very easy to get 100% on all of them. Which is basically 150,000 points every time you loop the levels. Eventually I got bored and went on to complete the game. At that point though I still had 7 lives left and could have gone forever! So I know my new score can be beat, it's if anyone is patient enough to do it.

I wondered how long it would be before someone started forcing the game to loop . I know I can beat that one, I'm just not sure I can be bothered. I'm still trying for a perfect run, once I've done that I might give it a go .

Haha that's insane. I was giving this a go earlier, but with scores like that, no way! I'm just going to try to finish the game now. Once I do that, my towel is thrown. Great job though, guys, you've definitely cracked the game.

I was waiting for someone to do this, it was something I was going to try on my next go, but I think boredom may be sinking in sooner for me!

If I get knocked down to third though I'm going to set aside a whole day and play until I reach maximum points .
