Just to let you know - in Sega Master Force issue 5 (November 1993, p7), they had a short conversation with Dan Van Elderen, Tengen's Chief Operating Officer who said that due to the success of Dragons Fury on the Mega Drive, they were shortly to be releasing 'Dragons Fury II' for MD, SMS & GG. No screenshots, that was all, but coming from their COO (no cow jokes please!) I think it should be considered more than a rumour.
Same issue on p8, there is an article about 'Marko's Magic Football' for the SMS, which was already completed for the MD, and they said it was under development at Domark due for release in March 1994. (this later appears in the release list).
Same page their is a piece saying that due to the success of 'F1', Domark were developing 'Kawasaki Superbikes' as a follow up, and official tie-in with Kawasaki. (If a tie-in existed then there must have been serious discussion and an agreement in place before anything would have been issued to the press). It says the game has 14 tracks and 4 difficulty levels, and that it was due early spring 1994.
In the Sega Master Force release list, they have the following listed:
Bignose the Caveman - Codemasters - November 1993
CJ Elephant Fugitive - Codemasters - November 1993
Cliffhanger - Sony Imagesoft - December 1993
Fire & Ice - Virgin - Xmas 1993
Last Action Hero - Sony Imagesoft - November 1993
Marko's Magic Football - Domark - March 1994
In Sega Master Force Issue 6 (December 1993) there is a preview of Bartman Meets Radioactive Man on pages 10 & 11. There are a few screenshots to go with the preview, and as they had already done features previously on both Space Mutants & Vs the World it is definately not a mistake of any kind. It says a review is coming soon (but as SMF folded after this issue with the exception of the SFM pull out the next month it wasn't to be!). They ALSO make mention saying there was a 4th simpsons game on the way - Itchy & Scratchy from Acclaim, although I'm guessing that probably turned into Krusty.
In that months release list, there were some more additions:
Bartman meets Radioactive Man - Acclaim - December 1993
Dragon's Fury - Tengen - March 1994
Itchy & Scratchy - Acclaim - March 1994
Kawasaki Superbikes - Domark - March 1994
Lemmings 2: Tribes - Psygnosis - March 1994
What is very interesting about a number of the games in both issues is that many were due for release the same or the next month from the release of the mags, so they would probably have been virtually finished by that point. Even the ones due in March, just 3-4 months later would have to have had substantial development if they were given a predicted release date rather than just 'coming soon'. Bearing in mind mags often sketchy release lists of course!
But also given that this was a SMS exclusive mag, they couldn't neglect the system as other multi-format mags could! So I would expect the info in it to be probably more accurate than other mags, as it was their sole focus for the magazine.
Anyway, just thought I'd share all that!
