Are there any SMS games out there that have not been translated (from Japanese to English) yet? I would definately be interested in SMS translating. Even a game manual or anything else SMS related would good too Anyone know of anything? (Is this even the right place to put this? )

Yeah, there are a few. The Story of Mio would be a good one to do. This totally goes here because, with someone's help, or on your own, you could then take the translation and create an English version of the game, like they did with High School Soonandsoforth (can't spell the name). Then you have Sukeban Deka II, that would be a good one. Crazy ass show and a pretty cool game in my opinion. You speak Japanese?

I just resurrected a topic on this on SMSPower: www.smspower.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6552Tensai Bakabon would definitely be the one to translate. That game looks just insane. That would probably be easier than Mio, given that Mio is primarily text-based. Whatever you decided to do would be a blessing, though. I wish I had the capacity to help, because I'd love to localize these games. High School! Kimengumi is a really fun game, and finally playing it in English was a strapping experience. It just has me wishing and waiting for more Jap translations.

Just start with keeping track of the text and how it functions in the game. You don't have to mess with the coding yet. I haven't done it myself, but I imagine it's pretty easy to change the text in a game. What are you going to start with?

Well I would be fine starting with any of those games. However, after a bit of a chat on sms power boards, it seems that that hacking the ROMs is a whole lot harder than it seems. And of course I have no idea how to hack anything.
So I guess I will just have to wait and see if something comes up

Well, even if you just translate it in order of play and make notes about it that could be good enough. Just to have it as a text file that can be read along with the actual game. If you start to translate I'm sure that will get other people excited and on board helping out. Someone has to start the ball rolling!

Yeah, man, do it! It would be awesome to play some of these games in the original form using a translation. Why not give it a go? And even if it is difficult to fix the text and change it to English, I'm sure there's someone out there who can easily do it and would probably be interested. If not, a straight translation file sounds cool to me. After you finish them we could add them to the database for each game they apply to.

Good news, a hacker on the SMSpower boards has ripped and dumped the Japanese script for Tensai Bakabon, and I have just started translating it
Looks like you all will be able to play it in english sooner than you thought! (Although it will take a little while to translate all the text)

That games just looks too crazy for words, so I'm glad you're actually making those words English ;D. Keep us posted, man!

Hey, I'm out of the project now (I might contribute a few things later, though), it's up to DMEnduro to follow through on the hacking. Hopefully it won't be too hard, there's tons of spare space in the ROM for the extra script.

Well the orginal script is a little buggy, so I think DME is going to try and sort that out soon
Otherwise its been moving along pretty well

I just posted this same message over at the sms power boards;
So I have been getting into the translation a bit, while playing it as well `just to make sure I do it right`
I havent done a whole lot, but I have done a reasonable chunk, I dont think it is going to take me as long as I thought
Howere there is a rather interesting problem with the text in the game itself, that is, there is some really, seriously foul language in some of the coversations. In the part I am translating at the moment, a guy tells Bakabon to `Shut up, piss of home and get borked`.
I am a little suprised
Suggestions on what to do or how I should go about wording such obscenities in English?

Suggestions on what to do or how I should go about wording such obscenities in English? I'd say you should do a proper translation and leave in the "foul" language. They're just words, after all.
