I have a few questions about a Japanese Master System:
1. Can I use a euro SCART cable with one? I can't use Japanese RGB with my setup?
2. Does it have a reset button?
3. Are they pretty cheap to get via Yahoo auctions Japan?
4. Can you fit a region switch?
5. Can you disable the FM sound?

Can only answer a few of these.
2. Yes, but the Pause button has been replaced with Rapid Fire.
3. Probably not.
5. Don't think so, why would you want to?

I read that some games are picky with the FM chip I think Walter Payton Football won't work? Either way, it's not on my want-list, and Joe Montana Football is the best SMS american football game, IMHO so why bother? I OCD about features and this and that. It would be nice, so I don't have to resort to emulation, or think about how it would have sounded.

1. Japanese consoles are NTSC - which is the same TV format you have in the US - so you can use a scart, composite cable or whatever. 2. It doesn't have a reset button - but who needs one anyway - just turn the console off and on again, only takes a second or two more. Japanese consoles DO have a pause button - the reset button was replaced with rapid fire. 3. They might be cheap on the Yahoo auctions, but you'll either need the help of someone living in Japan, or a third party bidding site that charges a commission. 4. You do realise that Japanese consoles have a different cartridge port and US and Euro games wont fit in it right? But you can get an adaptor that plugs in the expansion port on the back that gives you a US/Euro cart port - www.smspower.org/GenderAdapter/

They're a lot cheaper on YAJ than eBay.

I do realize I need a gender adaptor, but what if I wanted to play Wonderboy: Monsterland in English?
I have a device that translates SCART RGB into component video, as we don't have SCART in the states, and that's what I was curious about with SCART and all.

Well it would be easier to just use two master systems, rather than fiddling around with a Japanese one to put a language switch in - i presume you already have a US console anyway. That what i do, since Japanese consoles can use your US power supply and video cable - its only the console unit youd have to swap over to play different games.
You cant play every US/Euro game with the Gender Adaptor anyway, some are incompatible like Rastan - so you cant use a Japanese console for everything.

I have a Power Base converter, and it's a piece of crap. I may buy a tototek one, so I can use it with my Genesis 2.

You'd be good to get the HES converter, fits in any Genesis.
