Okay, I'm a little T'd because I just bought a nice, boxed Japanese SMS in incredible condition, but the seller apparently didn't look in the damn box because it "looked new" and failed to realize the RF box was missing. Is it possible to use a Genesis box or will I need to find what I need? Would a Mark III RF box work or is the one for the SMS special?

It has the exact same video connector on it as a US or Euro MK1 Master System and Mk1 Genesis, so either use the RF cable you already have or get a vastly superior AV lead if you donmt have one.

Okay, I think I'll try a Genesis box first since I have one lying around somewhere. Still ticks me off. If anyone has an extra let me know.

Did you get a part refund for it being incomplete?
Id go with what Playgen suggested and pick up an av lead which only cost a couple of dollars

He's going to give me one if he can't find one, he's been really cool about it, I just wish he looked. I can't believe he didn't, but I suppose it makes sense because I did it once with a board game.

Most older japanese consoles play on weird high number channels, like 75 and 76 or 92 and 93. If you do try it with a compatible RF switch, make sure to scan through the first hundred channels if it doesn't play on 3 or 4. In case you haven't checked yet/didn't already know, the RF switch for the japanese Master System hooks in to the A/V / RGB out port, not a typical (for North America) RF out port. Of course, for all I know thats how Euro SMS's are. They're also small and old fashioned looking, very different from the RF switches we get over here.
