My cable from the rf switch the console itself is finally on the outs. Crack in the plastic, mildly exposed wires, if you slightly bump the console when it is going the game either freezes or I lose reception. None of these are actually good things.
Am I right to just into a Dick Smith's (for my Aussie compatriots) or "electrical outlet type store" and get another 3m cable?

You could replace it with one of those... much better

You sell those cables don't you SCART is used on Euro televisions isn't it? Isn't there a way to connect to the AV inputs (red yellow white plugs)?

You can get cable like these for mk1 consoles They are the same as cables for mk1 Megadrive and Neo Geo consoles, theres always some listed on ebay. While RGB gives the best picture quality, a av cable like this is a good improvement over RF arial cables

Ok... I don't know what a SCART is... It's an SMS 2 or the MegaDrive1 that I use... I run the arial to the switch box, then the box to the Sega as I have done since 1990. New things scare me, I would much prefer another long antenna cable thing...

The Cable between the console and the switchbox isnt a standard one, it has the same connector on both ends. If you want a new RF cable from a shop you will probably have to loose the switchbox and plug straight into the television.

Yes, I sell the RGB Scart Cables.
Yes its possible to make an AV cable, you just tap the composite video and mono audio.
Ive heard that SCART is used in Australia, but only in certain parts of the country, other parts of the country I have been told only have the best picture using S-Video.. lol
A SCART plug is what most DVD players use to connect to the back of a TV with a SCART socket, its a 21 pin connector, just go on google, image search, and type in SCART and it will show you a picture.
