Aside from the obvious fact that card games won't work on this system, are there any other SMS cartridges that don't work on it? And, would it be hard to find one that's been modded for AV? Honestly, I can't understand why Sega went with RF.

You can mod an sms2 for scart and composite video output. If your not confident with using a soldering iron, just buy a mk1 console. They have full rgb output and you could easily get one for £5-10.
It did make sense for sega to use RF on sms2, since the megadrive had been released the master system was a budget console. Destined for use in kids bedrooms on portable tvs with no scart sockets. It might have only saved a few pence by dropping the av connection, but they made millions of the consoles, and that adds upto a big amount.

Yeah, I'd probably just be better off with a Power Base Converter, given that I already have a Genesis Model 1. I'd love to get a Japanese Master System, for the SG-1000 games, and for the FM sound chip-but no Power Strike II!

I gotsa Kersploschki 1.5 (Or as you SEGA fans like to say, a Master System). The SMS was released in Buzdekastanopia as "The Amazing Kesploschki Video Entertainment Gaming Fun System!" I'll try to get you guys a picture of it, soon.

It will play the Codemasters games, but Cosmic Spacehead works a bit funky.

Yeah, can't say I've found an ordinary cart. game that doesn't work on it. Do all the TecToy games work on it ok stan (or anyone!)? Proper colour and everything? Only asking coz I've never even tried them on it, I've always played them on my sms3. Coz they would've been designed for a PAL-M system wouldn't they?

Oh yeah, meant to say also that re: the av/rf thing, if you didn't want to get a sms1, if you can get a sms3 at a decent price it's av too.

Cool, I thought so, just wanted to check though. I don't know the tehnical differences, but I don't think there's much difference between PAL and PAL-M anyway. Only one of my games goes a bit funny at times with the colour, and that's FIFA - but might be something else that causes that.
