dos anyone have any tips on how to clean up the rf ports on the back of a master system / mega drive
i have a fully working system here but when i plug the rf lead into it all the screens a bit jumpy and the pictures bad its not the lead thats the problem as ive tried that in other systems and its fine so it looks like its the system
They can always be saved. Although if the picture is jumping it may not be just the RF ports, but it most likely is. First of all make sure they are clean on the out side( I know, I know but you would be suprised how many people dont do this).
Im not sure if you are up on your electronics, but you need to make sure that the plug is fully connected to the inside of the SMS's RF unit, so this may mean breaking out the tool set and having a fiddle around. Remember that the connection MUST be stable and secure. There may just be some dust/dirt/dog hair in there. Compressed air would me my weapon of choice for cleaning, it may be risky using alcohol or meths. Dont quote on that because I'm really not sure.
Do bear in mind that the SMS is very old technology, and that it may have problems on newer TVs. Because you have to tune the system in just like you would a channel, some TVs auto tune or just tuning functions dont quite work. I have no idea why this is, I found out the hard way. But hell, you probably allready knew that.
Thats all I got. Hopefully someone else on the forum will be able to add to that.
