....somehow yesterday on ebay I was lucky enough to score 2 Sports Pads and 2 Light Phasers, all M sealed in original boxes, buy it now for only $70 US for the lot. I was only looking for a new Light Phaser to play 2 player on Gangster Town, but this seller had the gems. I've found a copy of Sports Pad Football, but wanted to see if anyone had the info on all games compatible with it. I just found some info that said Great Soccer is compatible with it, opposed to Sports Pad Soccer, which is the one I really want to find. I think the 2 were the same game though were they not? I think there was a Sports Pad Hockey, though that was probably the worst of the bunch. Any others? Or can someone confirm the ones I listed? Thanks!

Yeah great ice hockey is one that works with the sports pad. I heard someone say that it works alright with maze hunter 3D too, but I don't know for sure. It's not like you're missing much by not having these games, trying to use the sports pad is about as difficult as trying to punch your way through a granite wall.

Sports Pad Soccer was only released for the Mark III in Japan. Great Ice Hockey & Sports Pad Football are the only 2 games that require it, and it's optional for Great Soccer.
No other games were designed for it, but some may be playable anyway - I've heard Marble Madness works quite well, and have been meaning to try that.

Yeah, the Sports Pad is difficult to play with.
Vapester: if you wish to trade one of your boxed Sports Pad, I'd be interested.
By the way guys, I have dozen of boxed Light Phasers, if anyone else is interested I don't mind parting some, they are taking too much room here.

Nice score! I love running across something while looking for something else!
I have Sports Pad Football, and it doesn't seem to even boot properly; I get a software error. Is this because I need the Sports Pad plugged in to make it run? Is that what anagrama meant by saying it was necessary? Or is it just necessary for play control?

It's just necessary for play control. Software error means maybe your cartridge connectors are dirty. Try cleaning it.

...Marble Madness!? Of course, thanks for the idea, like in the arcade version w/ the tracking ball. Don't have that one, i'll have to pick it up. I recently got an arcade version on a Midway Classics game for Xbox, but that game def needs a ball controller.

...MEKA? That's an emulator deal right? I've never tried that before, but can someone w/ a Sports Pad and Marble Madness maybe give it a test run if possible so I can get a confirmation it works decently? I'd appreciate it. Otherwise it's of no use to buy Marble Madness as I have the true version on Xbox already.

Just tried it with Marble Madness, and it's a lot better than I was expecting. The switch on the pad needs to be set to 'control' rather than 'sports', but it's pretty responsive and works very well.

The Sports Pad, ah! I have 3 of these things but none of them work properly. They work fine for about 30 minutes and then they just stop working. I'm rollling it like mad and the players move a tiny tiny bit. I mean I must have some rotten luck if all 3 are faulty.
I took it apart and it seems the ball isn't making much contact with the metal tubes inside. Anyone else had any problems with these bricks?
Btw why the hell call them a Sports Pad? It ain't the same size as a Control Pad. STUPID SEGA!!!
