Thanks to onyx ive just aquired a japanese master system. Im loving the full speed 60hz, built in 3d adapter, fm sound, and scart output, much better than my smsII. Now i want to play all my euro games on it aswell as my jap ones. Apparently you can make an adapter than plugs in the expansion port. Are there any good guides on making one?

that picture doesnt explain a lot. Is all you need two cartridge connectors ripped out of pal consoles and wires going between them. Whats going on with the two green and purple crossing wires in the picture?

It means connect the connectors lines upside down.

This may be a stupid question but with such an adapter would the music from standard sms games be improved with the fm sound unit?

For games supporting the FM Sound Unit, yes. Not all of them does. MEKA include a list of them in the "COMPAT.TXT" file.

that's a very big, and very decent list of games - this mark III adaption thing looks like something really worth doing, if only for the fm sound. Would the improvement be minimal for most of those games, or is it really noticeably much better? I was planning on playing the japanese games through a megadrive with an adapter (either the old official sega japanese converter, or one of those Tototek ones - is one any better than the other, does anypne know?), but knowing I can still play my master system games rekindles my interest in finding a decent affordable mark III. If anyone's ever considering selling one for a reasonable price, please contact me by PM or email. Ta

I'm assuming you can't play standard Sms games through a Mark 3 console via an adapter or is there a way?
Also is there an adapter you can build for a standard Master System where you can play Jap games on it? Is there any use to the extension port then on a non Jap machine?
