I picked up a tatty control stick today from a bargain bin. I want to give it a good cleaning and have a nose around inside - so that it may have a good home. I undid the two black screws on the front and back of the base but it won't open. What else do I have to do?

You try just popping it open after you got the screws out?

Under those little rubber pads, there's 2 more screws IIRC.

You try just popping it open after you got the screws out? Yeah - it's firmly closed. I suspected that, but didn't want to damage the unit, do they go back on ok?

Why don't you just buy a shitty one and have at it to find out everything you need to know?

Perhaps heat the pads with a hairdryer and then remove them with a small jeweller's screwdriver?
