Hey, I was wondering how daunting of a task would it be if in the Game Database, there could also be a column of who the developer was... would this be time consuming and almost useless? I've been curious about what companies may have made some games (Activision did Bomber Raid, etc.). I think it'd be a nice addition to the database. Then again, I'm not sure how many games were third-party. Any thoughts?

if you check out the smspower forums youll find that theres quite a lot of evidence that the developer name on the box, isnt neccessarily the developer who actually prgrammed the game. Take R-type for example, originally developed by Irem, the sms conversion done by Sega, who actually got Compile to make it for them. But you wont find any mention of Compile anywhere on the game. Its really quite confusing seperating publishers, from developers, from sub-developers.

Yeah, it's an ongoing headache trying to figure it out - I've been adding developers into the Digital Press database and have a pretty good list, but it's still missing about half of them.

Oh, and Bomber Raid was actually developed by Sanritsu Activision just bought the rights to distribute it. (CRV has been doing some very depth investigations into Sanritsu, Compile and others on the SMS Power forums).

Ha! Man, it does sound like a bit of a headache Well, at least it's somewhat documented somewhere. I'll have to check DP sometime and have a look-see

I'm afraid I'm to blame for this, the fields are there in the database, but because of I wasn't sure of the developer/publisher I didn't bother implementing it. I'll get around to it eventually, but for now my focus is on manuals and trying to entice people to write reviews.
