Outrun on Amiga is a joke, as indeed were many of the arcade conversions for Amiga. I can't help but be a bit dissapointed with the sms version though, as I played Outrun Europa before it, and Outrun is pretty basic looking in comparison. Outrun 2 on xbox is the game I always wanted Outrun to be, looks stunning, perfect renditions of the classic tracks, and has the added bonus of drifting which really adds a whole extra dimension to the gameplay. My preferred way of playing Outrun on sms is the Japanese version with its FM tracks, 60hz speed and playing with the paddle controller - the handle controller might be even better, but I don't have one to try it with. Wow! I never knew they made a paddle controller for this system. Damn! Now I want one and I'm sure they're probably impossible to find and if you do you need to take a second mortgage out to afford it, right?

Only available in Japan and only works in Japanese mode in the game (unless you hack it). It would probably be pretty easy to convert some other system's paddle if you have some electronics knowhow.

I thought this system didn't have any region specificity. Am I wrong about that? You say Japanese mode so I'm not sure.
