I love Out Run, a great little game. Like Sonic 1, I've played this game to death. Maybe we should have a little challenge, do the same routes and see who can do them in the fastest time.....it's not like it's a long game to complete!

Maybe most points or something. I mean, time is pretty much the same for everyone, since you can't make ONE DAMN MISTAKE, everyone will pretty much have the same time. Maybe actually completing the game should be the challenge.

This game is incredible; one of the SMS games I ALWAYS had no matter what state my collection was in. It's a Sega classic, plain & simple. I've played pretty much every version except the computer ones and the SMS version holds up well. I am so glad Out Run 2 was made; Out Run 2006:Coast to Coast has to be the coolest driving game of all time!

Man, I just CANNOT beat this game. My highest score was only around 4mil. I get to the second to last turn and always die. Is there some reason I seem to be sucking so bad? Oh yeah, I know what it is, I HATE when you go up and down the hills because you can't freaking see what's coming. I keep bumping into cars or hitting trees because the road suddenly turns and there aren't any signs.

to be honest this week is the first time I have properly plaid this game and I'm faeces big time. I cant seem to complete the course. What happends regarding finisheg it in a different letter (all the finish lines are lettered). Also, dont like the way I keep changing into low gear when using an sms pad, really annoying. Tried it with the handle controler, but didnt realise that when you push the handle in and out it effects the car, so when you pull it slows down, its near impossible to get anywhere using the handle. Finally settle on the excellent quickshot arcade stick, much easyer and no accidental gear change. Just wish i could get to the end I'm not evan gona post my score yet because its a joke.

You guys have been playing too much NES ;D To stay in gear while turning, don't use the left/right sides on the D-pad but rather the corners of it (e.g. downleft/downright for high gear, upleft/upright for low gear). This will keep you in the proper gear. The lettered endings are simply a way of keeping track of each route. Route A is supposedly a different challenge than route E. I've never noticed a difference though. Each route has a special ending graphic to it as well, something that was kept in Out Run 2. Some of them are rather hilarious (old and new)! Keep at it and, like any game, you should be able to see at least a few of the endings soon enough!

I defintely noticed a difference in challenge. I'm not having a gear shifting problem, I'm having a problem with the way they programmed it. How am I supposed to gauge my course when they hide what's coming? That's REALLY annoying. But yeah, you get a different ending for each part, it says so in the manual.

It is definitely easier if you take the left fork every time.

It is definitely easier if you take the left fork every time. See, I disagree. I find if you stick to the left fork, the last couple of stages don't have road markings and it can get tricky. I found sticking to the right fork a lot easier as most of the stages have pretty wide roads. After a while of playing I found a good technique is just to stay in 'H' gear all the time (unless you crash of course) and use your brake around corners, but don't press for too long.

That's what I've been doing though and I can't see to get anywhere. Is the blue NTSC version harder or something? And yeah, I found even the first level of the left loop was FREAKING HARD. The road turns a heck of a lot more than the other way and I crashed at least five times in a row.
