Hi guys, been waiting ages for this ;D I’ve been very undecided about which game to choose as the ones I would have picked have been done already. I finally got it down to two. Moonwalker or Cool Spot. I finally decided on Cool Spot though, mainly because I’ve played Moonwalker to death and I’m still yet to complete Cool Spot. I got this new back in the day and really enjoyed it although found it quite a difficult game. I feel it's a very underrated platformer, but on speaking to fellow forum members about this I think it's because some people have played it on superior systems (i.e. Mega Drive or Amiga). But I think we need to forget those and think of it in comparison to other SMS platformers, I think it stands up very well. The main things I like about this game (apart from the sexy looking box ) are the Graphics, controls and level design, the music isn’t too bad either. I like the idea that you need to collect all the Spot's to gain 100% cool (If only it was so easy in real life). The game is really quite a challenge and puts your platforming skills to the test - there is a cheat on the database but I have so far resisted temptation to use it. Kungfu Kid mentioned he likes the game allot and even quoted it as an essential sms game. Like me he has not complete it either, so perhaps this month we can both try and beat it (I hope you like my choice )

Awesome pick! As you said, I love this game - and I actually played the megadrive version first but was still very impressed at how polished the Master System version was (and is!). It definitely has some original features over other more tedious platformers (the cool spots being the obvious one!). I might do as you suggested and make an effort to complete it!

Great one man, I believe this was an early title I got when I started collecting and was so amazed at the look of it that I got more interested in the system. Never played it thoroughly though, so now's my chance.

I have to say I did find this dissapointing, I always wanted it as a kid, but when i got around to playing it I thought it was a bit lacking, not terrible, just not great.

I remember I had this game back when it came out. I remember liking it, but it wasn't my favourite. I still feel the same about it now. It's pretty good all-round. Like rupert said, it's got good graphics, controls and levels. I just don't think theres enough variety in gameplay, and the big levels can become quite boring. It is slightly underated though. I'll give it a another go though and try and finish it.

I gave this another bash earlier, it is actually a excellent conversion of the game - perhaps too good as the levels are exactly the same. I've never been a huge fan of any version of it. The gameplay consists of having to collect a certain number of items, and if you finish levels quickly enough you get an extra life as a bonus - so theres little incentive to take on the enemies. And the enemies can be really annoying, as your attack is weak and needs several shots to kill most enemies they often get a few hits in themselves. Its not a terrible game, but compared to the wealth of fantastic platformers on the sms it just doesn't compare.

I've read your comments and I'm going to have a good long play at this over the weeknd with the comments in mind. I hope you don't influance my opinion too much. perhaps i sepnt too much time enjoying the graphics and animation and not getting down tot the bare bones of the gameplay.

Playgen - If I played this game in 60hz would that be daft as it was Euro only? Not tried it yet, sorry if its a silly question.

I played it in 60hz too, theres very few games that actually play better in 50hz. Cool Spot has a big status bar, so playing in 60hz and removing the screen borders helps it fill the screen much better.
