Ok guys my pick is Fantasy Zone 2. In a nutshell I think the Fantasy Zone brand series was a great one that unfortunatly seems to have been forgotten amoungst modern gamers. Its a tip top shooter as well as having some of the most vibrant graphics I have ever seen, coupled with a nice difficulty level makes this one of my faves. I kinda wanted to put some pics to show you guys just how bright this game is but alas I dunno how, so if someone else would that would be great.

Here's one I'm surprised hasn't been picked before. I was throughly impressed with it when I first played it, the graphical genesis from the first game was amazing with more colors than I could believe and I thought the inclusion of multi-planed levels was pretty cool. Damn hard as well, that spinning pillar boss is a freaking beast. Good pick.

I totally agree with this choice. Fantasy Zone II is my all-time favourite SMS game - it's just so much fun. :)
Great pick, dude.

I love the fantasy zone games - though sometimes I find them a bit insane!!! Too much stuff flying at you from all directions - back, forward, up, down ARGH no more!!!!!
They're great fun, I remember when they were out me and my pals used to absolutely love them and have competitions which I'd always lose (being rubbish at horizontal scrollers!). I think I might be one of the few who actually love fantasy zone maze too.

I love all three, quite alot of games, esp space shooters go for the metalic cold look, so Fantasy Zone is just a breath of fersh air.

Good call. This is my second favorite sms game of all time. The first two fantasy zones were the only games that I ever used the Sports Pad for. Now we all know that Stan uses nothing but the sports pad for every game as he is a huge fan of it , but has anybody else ever tried this? Please keep the sports pad hate pm's to a minimum ;D

I would think with this game it would be DAMN hard because you have to move around so quickly but I guess I'll give it a go.

I have always though that the difficulty and learning curve of this game was spot on, not too hard, but a decent challenge all the same

Anyone know the location of all the secrets? How many secret shops are there?

I loved collecting the coins and bills and found the cute feet the ship had when you were running on the ground.
graphics for the game was amazing for an 8-bit game and very colorful full of life.
curious if anyone picked up the re-make of the original or the sega ages collection? I played both and they are awesome, highly recommended!!

I actually played through this the other day to hear it in full FM glory. Much tougher than the first game, but those portals on each level make it a fair challenge. It's not the usual difficulty associated with shooters, where if you lose your power-ups you are screwed. Here, it's just tough from a timing standpoint, if you have patience you can easily get far. I love all three games for different reasons - I think The Maze is a damn fine Pacman clone that more than holds its own with all the Fantasy Zone related upgrades and quirks. I definitely prefer that to Pacman.
A great series - wouldn't that be something if SEGA revived this for a newer console like they've recently done with Alien Syndrome? That would be sexy.
