I prefer it to the original Mario games, its a shame Sega droped the ball so badly with Alex Kidd, who knows if they had done a better job of the sequels like Nintendo did with Mario we might just be playing the latest Alex Kidd game on the new Sega console. Then again the many Mario games have almost with exception been brilliant.

I wonder if things would have worked out much diffrent if Shinobi World had been the 2nd Alex Kidd game, like stans artical says the other 2 crappy ones really screwed things up for Alex just like all these new crap Sonic games are for Sonic. This could be a contriversial suggestion but I think a new generation 3D Alex Kidd could be pretty cool (couldnt be worse than sonic could it?).

Am I the only one who thinks Shinobi World is also a bit rubbish? It just lacks the charm and interest of Miracle World. I couldn't help being disappointed with it. However i haven't played High Tech World or The Lost Stars so I am only comparing it to Miracle World. I would like to see an updated 2D Alex Kidd on the next generation systems. You can't beat side scrolling platformers.

A good direct sequel to Miracle World for the DS would sell by the bucket load to people our age and if it was any good make a new generation interested in him again.

There was supposed to be a 3D reworking of Miracle World for PS2, as part of the Sega Ages 2500 series. It was announced years ago, but nothing has been heard of it since. But the series is still running, a Wonderboy collection came out recently, and Fantasy Zone 2 is due soon, so you never know it still might happen.

This is a good one...I always hated the Janken matches though, until I found out there's an actual pattern. I always thought they were random Music, control, even the story is pretty cool in this game. RE: the "reversed buttons" ...IIRC, most (possibly every) SMS platformers from 1986 had the jump and attack buttons swapped from the expected layout.

I know it was against Mario, but I must still say it somewhat taints my image of it because the programmer admitted that pressure to be different led to certain aspects of the game, when that shouldn't have even mattered.

Excellent choice tonto: I can sum up my respect for this game in one simple sentance: "I Bought a Master system because of this game!!!!"

Agrees this is one of the very best games that ever graced the SMS. The best Alex Kid game in my opinion (yes beating out its bigger brothers version Enchanted Castle)
My favorite part of the game was flying the helicopter and riding the motorcycle. You notice Sega sometimes recycles sprites like the frog and fire that was in Alex Kid I saw in My Hero as well.
Wonders if they will ever bring out another Alex Kid game ever?
