I must save I do love playing this game. The collision detection and controls are awful, but once you get the hang of it it's really quite addictive. I can't yet beat the second loop though. How far has everyone got?

This is definitely one of those games that isn't actually very good but is so much fun to play. IIRC, I made to level 10 (first stage of 4th loop) but at that point the enemies were just too fast. This game has certain memorable things like: deadly frogs (same sprite as the frogs in AKIMW I think), deadly RC cars, bottles that can be knocked into enemies, thugs standing on top of running pigs, bulldogs that attack in packs, and a boss that punches the hero in the groin after losing and steals his girl again. To those wondering how to beat the game - I don't think there is an ending...it's one of those old-school arcade titles that keeps looping. I wonder if this is one of those games programmed to get so hard it's literally unbeatable, something like RC Pro Am for the NES where the computer cars are programmed to win all the time when you get far enough.

Played this properly for the first time yesterday, id only ever played it for a few minutes befor now. It's by no means a crap game but its deffinetly not in my top 20. I found the punch no use at all and just stuck to doing the flying kick. Some parts are quite tricky and take a few attempts to work out the pattern and timing which you need to approach with, which i liked. so i can see its one of those games you need to play alot and 'learn it'.
The music i thouhgt at first was ok but after 30 mins i couldnt stand it any longer and put it on mute. I'm shamed to say i have not yet completed the 1st level (how long is it?) I'm guessing from what ive read above theres not much point carrying on past the 1st level? I will try and get that far at least..

I'm guessing from what ive read above theres not much point carrying on past the 1st level? I will try and get that far at least.. Try to complete at least 3 levels..then you've basically seen everything. The game loops after this. I think there might be a little variety in enemy placement/attacks in the loops but I'm not certain. I got to the end of level 3 today and the music just annoyed me too much to go on ;D The punch is useful for launching bottles at the knife/bomb throwers (hit the bottle and follow it) and hitting the knife/bombers if you happen to jump next to them; the standing side kick is the only thing I can hit MOHIKAN with; the foot sweep is for attacking the packs of dogs (hint: hit the first 3 three from the front, then jump over the 4th and foot sweep it from behind for an extra player); the jump kick is good for everything else. The thing I like about the jump kick is that it's fast and you can change direction mid-air. I agree with you - the pattern-based parts of the game are what make it fun. It is satisfying to time out a difficult part like the falling rocks on level 3 when they seem impossible at first. I just remembered something that puzzled me for years...STEVE's name during the boss battles is "TAKE"...of course, this is most likely the original Japanese name (Tah-keh) but I had no idea about that as a youngster.

The kick is basically all you have in this game, jumping kick I mean. There are some secrets here and there too that are fun to try to get to work.

Ive played it a bit.. and i agree with the way its addictive and play it over and over (i think ive made it to level 2 or 3??) lol
i think it would be a bit better if you at least have a life bar or something like in kung fu kid or something. then you may stand a chance of beating it!!

Yeah, the one hit thing is annoying, especially because sometimes it seems like you were never even struck in the first place. That punch is nearly worth it, especially with crowds of those jailbird shirt running guys.

Yes back in the days I loved this game but its terribly hard. BUt I still LOVED IT!!! my top 5 sms game ever. You guys know of the one up trick with the pitbull dogs right? You sweep all but the last dog then you jump over and sweep from behind you get 1up all the time you do it. Keep on going until you get tired or die trying. There is no end to the game . You just keep repeating the first 4 stages over and over again until your lives run out. I didn't realize this until I remembered when I was a kid, my older bro told me there was no end and that there was only 4 stages. His best friend at the time beat almost every SMS game they ever rented back then. Me being me very bad at games I played this on my Nintendo DS emulator. You can rewind it was soo awesome lol. I managed to stay alive and have the game loop again. Still love this game to death and play it now and again.

This game is awesome!!! Just started playing it, and although the controls are pretty lame and the collision detection is wwwwaaay off, I'm hooked ;D. I'm amazed at how quickly I lose all my three lives on this game, on my first 3 or 4 goes I was dead within seconds! I've only managed to make it to the boss of the first level so far . Still, I can't help but try again. This is one of the few games I've ever played that has had my hooked as quickly as this, especially since I'm so terrible at it . The background music is excellent too, one of my favourite pieces of SMS music so far .
