Heh. Maybe I should stock up on copies of the game I'll picking in a couple of weeks... Seriously though, I doubt it's anything that can't be put down to natural eBay fluctuations. Prices do vary slightly and it only takes 2 bidders to push something above what you'd normally expect..

Heh. Maybe I should stock up on copies of the game I'll picking in a couple of weeks... If you could let me know in advance, then I'll do the same I think it's probably just one of those ebay things. Gain Ground, isn't a super rare game, but it doesn't apper too frequently so it's probably just two people who wanted it outbidding each other.

Awesomeness, finally got to thoroughly sit down and play el gameo. I really like this game, it has its faults but I find it rather entertaining. In my opinion there is a great deal of strategy, though certainly not as much as Tyrants, after looking at it again. Still, certain characters enable you to get by certain sections. Without them, such as the grenade dude, you can have a really painful time getting everyone you can to the exit when there are a ton of enemies chucking crap at you. Some characters, such as the wizard, seem rather worthless. It's fun to watch enemies sink into his whirlpool, but otherwise he shoots the same poop as the rifleman, and not as far, so what's the point? Some characters dominate, like the tri-rocket launching dude, though it kind of sucks he can only let them loose vertically up and not side to side or diagonally. The enemies are repetitive, but still decent, I don't find them tiresome or anything and the game is nicely set off with the big, freakish bosses. The only real problem I have with this title is I consider it the kind of game that should have a save or password feature, which it has neither. It would be nice to come back to it and start at the beginning of Level 3 instead of way back at the beginning. Can't say much about replay value since I haven't beaten it, but I like what I see thus far. Oh yeah, the music is pretty rank, but not annoying, and the controls are a bit sticky. Otherwise great.

Well, I played through the entire game today... I actually conquered it! I think by the time I destroyed the final boss I only had one or two characters left. It seems to me that the last boss has damn near unavoidable attacks. I ended up just taking each person and running up to him right in his face and firing as fast as possible. Here's my pic: img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/I_am_Roth/sms/gain_ground.jpgYes, unfortunately I don't have the cart so I played via emu... but rest assured, I'm not into save states and the like (except in the case of EXTREMELY long passwords [see also: Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX]). Overall I'd say the game isn't too difficult. I've only had minimal experience with the mechanics of this game from the Genesis, and this is probably about the fourth time I've played this version. Somebody stated earlier about the useless characters, and I'd have to agree with them. I found myself using the dwarf alot during the earlier stages, and the guy who shoots sideways on the later stages. The wizard is lame... he became my main expendable guy. All the rest of the characters I only used on special occassions, or when exiting. I do like this game alot... I had lots of fun with it. Thanks again for the awesome game pick Stan! EDIT: Forgot to post my final score after writing it down and everything 73,650

This is a pretty fun game overall. Since CRV has not responded, we'll give it one more week. I'd like to beat it myself and should have some time, so here I go! Overall I think my main problem is that there is somewhat of a lack of variety. I'm not sure what else they could have done with this, but I wish they did a little more.

Since CRV has not responded, we'll give it one more week. Hey, you told me to let you know if I CAN'T do it, not that I can do it.

Man, well that means you won't be doing it then. That seems a little unfair. Why can't we start CRV's week now? Since we're having a fortnight or more for each game, starting a day late doesn't seem much of a problem to me...
