I find the jumping a little wonky, but one gets used to it. The characters seems to float a little bit.

Hmmm, yes, now that you say that. It can be a bit of a pain trying to avoid the mines with the jump because you hit the ceiling and come right back down.

Here's something that's puzzled me since I got the game in 1989 - how does one get the Opa-Opa in room A-6 that has two gates around it?

I know which one you mean. Don't you get that after you've upgraded your lazer enough?

hmm...I will try to get it after I level my Zillion completely. But as they are gates/doors around the canister and Zillions only destroy enemies/canisters/mines...well I don't expect much to happen I wonder if this is just some programming remnant that never got removed after beta testing. Or maybe inputting code way further into the base opens it; I don't think I've ever checked back there after going deeper into the base.

There has to be a code box or something somewhere that opens it.

There's an annoying pause whenever you jump, I guess that's what he meant. Anyway I love this game. The music is great, and the sound effect of killing norsa soldiers is very satisfying and over the top. It's a shame it isn't more varied like metroid (obviously an inspiration), but the faster pace and shorter length make up for it I guess.

This is perhaps my fave SMS game, Ive been playing it quite abit recently. I have fond memories as a kid drawing out the map, then having to redraw it about 10 times to fit it on one page ;D Ive since found a good quality map, might have been on game faq or somthing. ive printed on high quality photo paper. I completed it back in the day but I'm actually finding it pretty tough now. I'm not quite sure what it is about this game that I like so much, perhaps it's because you play as a fairly normal human were as games like Sonic, alex kidd and wonder boy (allthough amazing) you cant really feel like your there in the game, I get that feeling with Zillion. At times it gets quite frantic as your down to your last bit of energy and you know you have a couple of tricky rooms to get through befor you can get some more energy, gets your heart rate going abit. And when you actually manage to trigger the bomb and you have to get yourself out of there - I think i might keel over with a heart attack these days If anyone on here still hasnt played this you really must. The first 5 minutes of play might not grab you but once you have stuck with it and got used to its style of going from room to room entering codes to advance it's masterfull. Please please give it a chance i'd love some lengthy discussion about this game.

I have an official Sega map of this game as well as a graphical map. Would be a good idea to throw it up on the database.

Okay, it's up on the database. I'm not sure where I got this actually or if it is indeed official. I seem to remember it is, but it's not mine, I got it from some other site but I can't remember for the life of me where or what it said about it. May just be some home-jobber that someone put together. Anyway, it's up, and here it is if you don't feel like leaving the forum.

That one looks pretty good for planning a rout out of the complex. I use the graphical one below, might not be great for first time players as it's giving away all the suprises..

Yeah, I have that one up too, much better. I prefer having it laid out like that, similar to the old NES guides for Metroid and such.
