I had trouble picking out a game because I haven't necessarily been infatuated with one particular game this week. I got Power Strike last week and have been playing that, but I think we're all aware of the game. So I've picked a game that I haven't really been playing lately, but doesn't get a lot of notice that perhaps it should. It's...
LINE OF FIRE
A shmup based on a Sega arcade game. You play Jack, who's been spotted by the enemy while stealing their secret weapon. You'll drive a Jeep, a boat, and a chopper to go through the different terrain and get back to the allied forces with the weapon.
Very nice game, overall. Plays well (the different modes of transportation shake things up a little). The graphics are pretty well detailed and it has a great soundtrack. Unfortunately, there's not enough of it. My one complaint is how easy and short it is: I can whip through it in 15-20 minutes (though it took me some time to beat it for the first time).

Its a solid shoot em up, and the 3d mode is ok, it sa bit odd how the jeep moves side to side mind you.

This game is pretty fun. I like the various vehicles and the ability to jump ramps to hit airborne enemies is pretty unique. Being able to control the missiles is useful but a little frustrating since you steer the vehicle at the same time. One of the better SMS shooters and perhaps the short length could be balanced by the difficulty - I haven't played it on hard yet.

sorry to desagree with you guys, i find the game reasenoble at best, nothing really shines in this one. Everything is just regular, and that makes me mad because we all know what the SMS can achieve!!!

Don't own it... never played it. Sounds ok though. I just have to make my GOTW contribution or my week is all out of whack....

This game could have been better. The jeep does steer odd, in that it doesn't really move, just sort of like a mindless rectangle moving about. You can only go up about halfway on the screen, and this leads to getting struck several times along the way. The missle control is damned annoying, really got to me and made them nearly useless. The change of vehicles was pretty cool, but with no different power-ups or weapons it kind of lagged after a bit. Had it been a longer game I would have disliked it even more, but the shortness coupled with the difficulty saved it. I just wish they took some more time on it. Game moves too slow too, it takes like a million years to go two feet. Plus, anyone else notice the odd size of objects? Like the soliders that are as big as your jeep or the large soldier as big as a building?!!! What the hell is that? And how come I can't run over soldiers with my jeep without getting damaged? I thought I was driving a "super weapon" according to the story?

I don't know if you noticed, but if you move up the screen and hold "up," your vehicle (except maybe the boat) goes faster. And how come I can't run over soldiers with my jeep without getting damaged? I thought I was driving a "super weapon" according to the story? I don't think the jeep is the "super weapon," is it?

Not exactly a stone-cold classic, but it's a pretty entertaining while it lasts. Just ploughed through to level 5 on Normal and I'll have another crack tomorrow properly tooled up with an arcade stick & 3D Glasses I'm in agreement with most of the points above - nice soundtrack, not too tough, a bit on the slow side (I'd hate to see it at 50Hz!). While the alternate vehicles are OK, but it seems pretty limited with just the two weapons and no power ups (bar missiles/health). I found the missile control OK on most levels, but the falling rocks level was pretty frustrating. I certainly wouldn't call it one of the best SMS shooters, but it's charming enough in it's own way

Yeah, I noticed it goes a BIT faster, but it's hardly anything at all really. Goes like 4km and hour instead of 2. Thanks. I could be wrong, but I thought the Jeep was the super weapon, must watch story again.
