People actually like it, whoa! Then again, I also thought I was the only person who liked Global Defense.
If the Jap version is different I think I may download it and give it a run through some time. I'll be dissapointed if the Western version has a lot missing, like Enduro Racer.
Also, it's better to get a lower hit ration than a high one. Try for 0% and you'll see what I mean.

I agree with the positive feedback already posted. But it's a shame Sega took an arcade game (Sega Ninja/Ninja Princess) where you control a female character, and turned it into another "save the princess" affair.

The Japanese version of Enduro Racer has twice as many levels as the European/US/South American version.

faeces, once again I find that a game I had previously written off as nothing special is actually pretty good For one, it's mean - 1 hit kills, 3 lives (initially) and no continues - I dunno, that annoys me in some games, whereas in others I'd see it as a flaw if it was any different. This is definitely in the latter category, and the unforgiving nature certainly enhances the replayability. That said, the vertically scrolling levels are actually pretty easy once you get into it (basically: advance steadily, back-track where necessary to buy breathing space & don't let yourself get surrounded) but that's countered by the variety of the other levels. Variety in the bosses would have been nice, but I'll cut it a bit of slack since it's such an early (launch?) title. Just got to the floating log level tonight (playing the Western version), and I'm pretty sure I can do better than that before the week is out. Only got one Green scroll in the 6 levels though, which seems a bit low - am I missing something there? Now if only I could remember about the invisibility when I actually need it, I might really be able to get somewhere...

I've just started this one and I must admit I'm quite shocked by how good it is. I must have had about 40 copies of this game pass through my hands over the years and this is the first time I've tried it . My initial impressions were how hard the game is, it took me three attempts to get past the first level. But then I realised that button 2 fired straight forward no matter which way you were facing, before this I'd thought that both buttons were just fire, and the game became a whole lot easier then. So far I've managed to complete it a couple of times, but I've only found two of the scrolls (don't tell me where they are please, I will find them!) so I haven't completed it properly from what I can make out. Hardest level has to be the one with the horses in (6 or 7), the guys that charge at you breathing fire are hard as hell to kill, especially when you've pretty much stopped using button 1!!!

One of the best games on the system. Ninjabearhug, how could you have not played this until now? Ropey graphics initially I think puts alot of people off, but it just gets better and better and the music is awesome. Took me ages to complete it as it's ridiculously hard during the later levels when the ninjas attack you from behind and also use their magic to spin around you.

The graphics looked pretty pedestrian, even for early SMS standards, and the control was a little tough to get used to. I hadn't given it thought since, but the accolades now make me want to give it a second go. That would mean putting down Astro Warrior...so not yet!

I've only had a Master System for a few years, I was an MD kid!!! Yeah some of the later levels are quite tough, plus I always forget I can use the invisibility thing to get out of tight spots . Found 3 of the green scrolls now, only two more to search out .

The invisibility is important but I find on the last few levels that the ninjas just get really close and surround you so when you reappear you just get hit immediately. Luck is involved sometimes to get out of the tight spots. I bet I know which scrolls you've found. One of them is particularly difficult and even though I know where it is, it still can take loads of shots to make is appear!

The Ninja is definitely an awesome game and an underrated classic in my books. Graphics aren't brilliant but the simple solid gameplay is addictive. I can finish this game pretty easily now but I do remember struggling with it as a kid. Finding the hidden scrolls adds to the adventure and makes the game more interesting.
Are we going to have a high score club for this?
