I've had PIT POT for awhile now, thanks to my brotha Prophet, but since I didn't have a Mark III I couldn't play it. That is, until I discovered you could do so with a Power Base Converter. Score! There was something cathartic in seeing the Mark III logo for the first time, but even better still was the actual game. What a simple little classic! Stan hit the nail on the head with this - very simplistic in the Bomberman sense, but like Bomberman, with simplicity and sharp control comes high addiction!
I only dabbled in the first few levels, since I didn't have much time, but I'll definitely be revisiting this soon. This game is definitely in a class of its own on the SMS. Does the Euro game not have the level editor? Penguin Land's editor is more intuitive, but this one is still fun, if simplistic.
Did anyone else notice the similarities between this and Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars? When you die it's virtually the same angel, and the repetitive theme is very reminiscent of the first level theme in The Lost Stars. I've always loved that tune, and the variant in Pit-Pot is also a pleasure. When you get the heart thing that freezes everyone, that music is really familiar too. I can't peg the game, but I've definitely heard it before in an action game. Kenseiden maybe? Can anyone help?

Yeah, it's a great game - one of my favourites (after Fantasy Zone). Gets tough really quickly though, and there's some fiendishly sneaky tricks needed to get through some of the later rooms. One of those games that you really need to map as you progress, otherwise you've got no chance...

Yeah, it's a great game - one of my favourites (after Fantasy Zone). Gets tough really quickly though, and there's some fiendishly sneaky tricks needed to get through some of the later rooms. One of those games that you really need to map as you progress, otherwise you've got no chance... I wasn't too keen on the mapping bit, but upon thinking about it, it wouldn't be too time consuming at all. All you'd really need to do is draw out a nice grid before you play, Zillion-style, and then every time you get in a new room, just put dots on each of the four walls for where doors are. Hollow dots for locked doors. That way you're not having to pause the game all the time. I'm going to try this later tonight with any luck. I've been renaming all the threads here to make it easy for us to call the games up - without that rename it basically took me going through every thread to find this, since searching three letters is hopeless on most internet forums!
