Those f* king bats are really starting to piss me off The flying daggers in the second level are a female dog aswell. Got as far as level 3-2 on one credit tonight, with a score of about 140K.

Great choice, this is a game I had and finished years ago but stupidly sold. Luckily for me I picked it up about two weeks ago for $4, been playing it heaps. It's a great game that gets overlooked often.

Those f* king bats are really starting to piss me off The flying daggers in the second level are a female dog aswell. You'll find that the birds in the fourth level (Laboratory) are darned annoying, too. I just got this game several weeks ago (never got into it much in emulation) and thought it was pretty good. Great graphics, solid music and gameplay. Unfortunately, it's too short and easy (like a number of other SMS games) and I'm not quite as interested in it anymore.

It's been awhile since we've talked about this game. Any other current members dig it? I finally sat down and finished it the other day. Great game. It does Castlevania better than Castlevania did. I liked how you could still jump and attack while going up and down stairs, which was a flaw in the Castlevania games. The music and story are definitely standouts - very atmospheric and fleshed out, with nice graphical cut scenes between each world. The soundtrack is really stuck in my head right now. The bosses are all quite different and offer some challenge above just spamming the attack button. A lot of their movement patterns are also very unpredictable and something you really have to work hard at overcoming. The game is one that can be beaten in a single sitting, but I'd say the difficulty is just right for modern audiences. It's no cakewalk, with a few bits of challenging platforming and a limited number of free lives available without digging for them. That said, the game definitely awards exploration with a lot of hidden life potions and power ups. It's just a well thought out game, through and through, and pretty much the only comparable title to Castlevania that we got on the SMS...and I think SEGA did it better!

I only got this game around 6 months ago (the ozisoft version doesn't appear too often) I thought it was fantastic! I never managed to complete it though - the stage with the spitting dogs or whatever they are got me everytime! It's definitely in my top ten games for the system!
By the way I'm working on the next game club entry - can expect it in the next week or so.

First time I tried it was during the current tournament where I try each game. It's really interesting and I will definatly give it a good play sometime in the future.
