Well, there are some things to help you out there, not exactly what you're looking for. Still.
1.King's Quest (fits the text quest pretty nicely) and Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego (much more playable than the NES version) 2.What is W&W? I'm lost here. 3.There are several Disney games on par with the NES versions, if not WAY better than them. The Lion King is much better, first off, because you can actually play it on an NTSC system with no problems. Then you have Deep Duck Trouble, Castle of Illusion, Legend of Illusion, and the list goes on. 4.Nothing really close to this gem, though there are several games that fit the bill. Time Soldiers is one that comes to mind.

I'll take a guess and say W&W games are Wizards & Warriors, which there were three of on the NES.

Ah yes, I don't know why it didn't occur to me. Hmmmm, well, let me think. Games like it. Oh yeah, well you have Lord of the Sword, which is pretty close and Danan: The Jungle Fighter. Not exactly what you're looking for, but still basically the same format.

Solstice. Damn, you actually beat that? I mean, I heard once you get through it it's really not that hard, but wow, I shut it off in like 10 minutes. Hey man, back off of that, Silver Surfer is great.

Solstice, man that used to my favourite game on the NES, I had heaps of fun playing through it. I do not think it's easy after you've finished it once, there is always a lot of jumping around which is pretty hard to judge in that game.

The thing with Solstice is it's quite a big game aswell, and you do have to judge some jumps but get them wrong alot of the time.

I don't know, it's tough to make a GOOD volleyball game, especially beach volleyball of all things.

Sorry for reviving such an ancient topic, but being a die-hard NES fan, I have a few mentions as well.
Nearly ANYTHING by Konami... the Castlevania, Contra, Gradius and Twinbee games, Life Force (aka Salamander), Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun, Crisis Force, Jackal, The Goonies 1 & 2, Rush 'N Attack, Track & Field 1 & 2, Parodius Da!, Yume Penguin Monogatari... there's too many to list, actually.
Ditto with Capcom... Strider, Bionic Commando, the Mega Man games, Mighty Final Fight, Gun.Smoke, Trojan, Ghosts 'N Goblins, Commando, Street Fighter 2010 (which gets better as you get into it), the Disney games...
As long as we're dreaming, why not the first party Nintendo games? I'd have loved to see SMS versions of Metroid, Zelda 1 & 2, Kid Icarus, Excitebike and the Mario games.
Other titles:
The Ninja Gaiden trilogy (the SMS game was pretty damned good, and I'd love to see how the NES trilogy would have turned out) Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Grafitti Monster Party Shadow of the Ninja Blaster Master Rygar (the NES version was totally different from the arcade/SMS games) The Wizards & Warriors games Shadowgate Uninvited Batman Kid Niki: Radical Ninja (and its Japanese-only sequels)

Super spike volleyball was an awesome nes game! Great music and gameplay,a true classic. Agreed 110% That game is 1 of my 3 NES games I own (other 2 are shadowgate and maniac mansion) and it's still almost as much fun as it was 10 years ago for me. By the way don't forget the graphics especially the USA backgrounds, Technos crank at graphics, music and gameplay but the games tend to be a little short. I also agree with the you Dire51 about Shadowgate and Uninvited plus I would of loved to see all the NES adventure games ported to SMS. heres my list of adventures which I think should of been released on SMS : Deja Vu King's Quest V Maniac Mansion Shadowgate Uninvited other games : Kid Icarus Lode Runner Nintendo World Cup Punch out River City Ransom Snow Brothers Super Dodge Ball Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II = The Arcade Game Wrecking Crew

The other day I found out my girlfriend has the old NES, so she got it out and I had a go. She had some good games too. Played the original Mario Bros, which is her fave game. I was amazed that she knew all the secrets and could get to world 8 in minutes. Also played Super Mario Bros 3, which is a brilliant game. Had a go at an old fave of mine, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. Also tried some interesting games called 'Time Lord' and 'Digger'. Bart vs Space Mutants was terrible, SMS version is much better. I think overall the NES had some very playable games and do have a few classics I would have loved to appear on the SMS. But as good as the NES is, I'd still take SMS every time.

Duck Tales and Duck Tales 2. I love those games.
Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers
Could have been so good on the SMS
Has anyone ever played Friday 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street on the NES?
I've never played them but always been really intrigued as to how they would work

I've played them both - nightmare on Elm St. is actually not bad, you can have some fun with it. Friday 13th on the other hand is so so bad, it's really awful! Have you ever seen the Angry Video Game Nerd videos of them both? They are hilarious! (I know some people don't find his stuff funny, but I LOVE it!) ;D Oh, and I'd also have loved to have had the first Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles game - I used to LOVE that game SO much on my friends NES back in the day! used to go round and play it at 7am in the school holidays annoying the hell out of his mother!!
