Hey all! I'm Raymond Mullan, i'm 19 and a big Master System fan. Coming from the UK the SMS was pretty popular, and was responsible for giving me the gaming bug. It was the late 80's and apart from playing a few games on my cousins C64(Robocop!!!) i had little gaming experience. My dad bought a Sega Master System plus which came with two controllers, the light gun (very futuristic looking, pretty cool at the time) and had Hang-On (The first game i ever played! It looked awesome!) and Safari Hunt (responsible for eating away days of my life). My dad also got some great games which included to the best of my memory The Ninja, Action Fighter(Still love that game!), Astro Warrior/Pit Pot, Rastan, Zillion 2, Time Soldier, Super Kick Off(Best soccer game ever!!)and the almighty Altered Beast.
I played my SMS loyally for years until it broke, damn rf/av cable. I managed to get an SMS 2 though with Sonic built in. Eventually i sold my soul and bought a SNES, boo!!! Although i hated the damn thing and played nothing but Street Fighter, i traded it in for a Sega Mega Drive which i still have. This was also eventually forgotten when the PS1 came along and the same when the ps2 came along. I was reading through some Retro Gamer magazines and realised how much i missed my old SMS. To my horror i found that my SMS 2 and entire collection of games was given away by my mum to a charity shop years before, i was gutted. So i've been looking round second hand shops, ebay etc. to start collecting SMS stuff again. I've just bought an SMS off Ebay which is on its way, with Light Gun, two controllers and 10 games. I've already purchased 10 games and am dying to play them, emulation just isnt the same as playing them on the real thing.
Well anyway, i'm new to the site, already enjoy it and looking forward to the new designs n stuff, looks cool.

As a new member, I guess I will introduce myself first. I got my Master System January 17, 1988. I was ten years old, and got it as a birthday present. It came with the pack-in Hang-On/Safari Hunt. I also got Ghost House & Action Fighter with it. I've spent many many years with this machine, and still have the original unit. I only had it a short while when it was replaced by a Sega Genesis in December of 1989. But, I got the converter shortly thereafter and continued to play the Master System games right alongside the Genesis games. Only recently has my interest been renewed in it, mainly because through emulation did I realized all of the great titles I missed. So I am going back through and buying up some of these awesome games. I think the Master System had a sort of a mystery to it, because it was the first system I owned that had secrets built into it, such as the Maze game (press up and 1+2 at the instruction screen) and countless other titles that had continues hidden away, and other goodies. I've had a history of building strategy guides for games back in the day, I used to have a notebook full of maps, codes, and other things that I no longer have, but have full intention of republishing this stuff on the web.

Nice to see an NTSC collector coming on the scene. Get ready for a life of sickness. Once you play a game like SpellCaster or a PAL game like Asterix, you won't stop. By the way, thanks for getting our member list that much closer to 200!!!! Yaaaaaaay!!!!!

hey I just recently purchased my second S.M.S. from ebay because I regreted trading away my first one. I got my first sega as a Christmas present in 1987 ( wow long time ago!!) my dad purchased it from Costco for like $70.00. I always liked all the games but had trouble trading games because all of my friends owned NES. This just meant that I had to buy all the games if I wanted to play. So I did, I had all of the games and played them all the time ( I knew Phantasy Star like my own neighborhood), my dad even played... he was the king of Wonderboy in Monsterland and Choplifter. Eventually I traded it away as I grew older. I recently found a box with most of my old games ( missing Phan. Star & Won.boy in Mon.Land, ouch!) and decided to buy a master system off ebay. That is where I am at now, just lookin to have fun with my Sega.

And then, the fun, becomes a sickness. All modes of purification and detoxification cannot remove it from your body.

35 year old teacher of Science in an Inner City comp. been teaching for 13 years and since it was released I am undefeated by any student at Tony HawksSkateboarding 1, 2 or 3.
Suppose I would class myself as a hardcore gamer. I run a Athlon 3000xp in a transparent case build for Half Life 2. Fast a buggery and hurts your eyes when the sound reactives are going.
Started on a ZX81 and progressed to Speccie. Also a Battlezone freak in my younger days, 2 joysticks and periscope.
Stopped gaming during my degree except union bar. Got a sms in 92 but stopped for a bit again until Playstation was released. For the last 4 or 5 years or so was a full on FPS freak so pc based and all hail broadband.
Sort of collected anything for a few years. Often buying and selling when bored.
Last year I swopped a bucket of PC games with a friend for a Woody and Megadrive. Haven't really looked back.
Got quite into emulation and jerry built an arcade controller from usb joypad and old kempston joystick ready for a cabinet I was going to build, 6 buttons and stick.... nice.
About 2 days after this was finished I was offered a Street Fighter 2 jama cab so..........
Pretty much Sega based but have a few other oddities.
There you go a gaming life history.....
Big guns are best

Hello thought i should introduce myself to you sms crazys. Like most of you i my sms quest started when i was young (5) and got my hands on my first games console the wonderful sega master system. From that day i still own the very same console but more recently grown a considerable games collection (although small in comparison to others on the board) of over 200 different games.
Im now 19 and a student at Aberdeen Uni in bonnie Scotland. This provides with more limited funds to spend on sms but i try to reduce drinking funds to fuel the addiction. I mainly collect ms stuff but am a fan of sega in general.
The name is a dig at my nemisis whom i shall leave anon. who is a nintendo loving feak show.
As it should still enjoy playin the sms and am a particular fan of Power strike 2, Wonderboys and Pshyco Fox. Outwith sms its Final fantasy games for me which im sure takes a little bit of my soul away every time i plug in another 10hrs into the game! I also have a slight hatred for NES and F-16 Fighter on the sms.

Power Strike 2 is amazing, easily the most intense (graphically and action-wise) game on the Master System, not to mention great fun.
Hi all. Just found this place, got bored and looked to see if the domain name segamastersystem.com was taken, and the blurb there led me here. I'm 24, from Scotland, have been playing Master System games since 1987 but didn't buy my own system (SMS2 with AK in Miracle World built in and Sonic on cart) til 1990. Still playing it to this day and buying games for it, just got Ys off ebay yesterday so I'm looking forward to playing that. I'm a little disappointed that the site is no longer active, but these forums seem good so I'll stick around.

Let me introduce myself, its what this thread is for anyways.. My nick comes form my real name: Jeroen Talman, a 17-year old dude. Yeah the name sounds pretty odd, thats cause its dutch I can say im kind of a positive gamefreak because i dont spent THAT much time behind a console or pc but i do collect as many as possible. Im already on 9 consoles and just to show off im going to name all of them: Gamecube, xbox, ps2, megadrive 1, megadrive 2, nintendo 64, dreamcast, nes and offcourse the master system2! though i just bougt the SMS im pretty familiar with it. the sms is for me what the nes is for most other kids (except you guys ). my first console. its really odd playing a game like land of illusion after more then 10 years and remembering every level again. its kinda... sweet ;D! now thanks to the internet im getting in touch with all kind of sms games ive never even heard of, its like a new segaworld is opening up to me! games like wonderboy and zillion? i had never ever heard of them so its time to collect some more! WHAT, IVE GOT NEW MAIL!!!!

Whats up people, my name is Dann Pichette and I've had this old box ever since i was born!!! well maybe not right when i was born but as far back as i can remember...my brother had the sega master system and then got a sega scope 3d package....it was sweet, till the glasses broke. Anyways, we had this thing kickin around forever and throughout that time i went through every console phase there was, genesis, super, 64, ps, and the crazy thing is i got rid of or sold every one of those systems but still held onto the master system. now just recently i started collecting and the funny thing is i dont even know why, i was never really into videogames for a lonnng time and all the sudden i cant stop buying friggin sega games! the cool thing is the PAL videogames like streets of rage and mortal kombat, i didnt know those titles existed for a system that old, people freak when they see virtua fighter for an 8 bitter, friggin expensive with the shipping and all but i cant stop buying them now...its too late....actually what i think is the real funny thing is that it pisses off my girlfirend cause i have a "relec" system and my friends think its boring shytty and tell me to get an X box all the time, i cant even get anyone to sit down and play a game of double dragon!! we had the same 15 or so games my whole life and just in the last year ive over doubled that. i know im not as hardcore as any of these collectors on here, and i dont have like 200+ sega carts or any of that cool extra stuff you guys all have.....but thats whats moneys for right??? d**n skippy! well anyways yeah, thats my story i get mostof my games thru e-bay cause i live in a crap town that no ones heard of this thing, and its the only system i have honestly! i dont play NOTHING else but my beloved Sega Master System....
and by the way, a thanks to Stepanic who was patient to wait for my money order and send me a much needed copy of golden axe

Hi, My name is Nelson, I am from Puerto Rico and I am 29 years old. I've been into videogames since I was 5 years old, so I've played almost all domestic consoles. Of all my consoles, my favorite is the SMS, I love all Sega systems but my true love is the SMS. I need just two games to complete the US SMS versions, that console is my pride of all the systems I collect for. I work as a Sales Supervisor at my local Time Out Arcade, it feels great to work on something related to my videogames way of life, the arcade. For collecting purposes, apart of SMS, I look mostly for DC, Saturn, Sega CD, GG, TG-16. For SMS I look for the two games remaining to wrap up the US collection; Super Monaco GP and James Buster Douglas Knockout Boxing(yeah, I know... but...I want it! ). I am also looking for European, Brazilian and Australian versions of the Sega Master, so if you have a complete spare game that I don't have, let me know, I am interested. Cheers! Nelson

hey whats up everyone, im Anthony, im a big sms fan from the United States. It just started out as me wanted to play "Space Harrier 3-D" again because my cousin used to have the system, before it died over here, and then I found out about all these other games. Now im just plain addicted for about the past two years tryin to get a bunch, my collection now has many rarities, i don't really know why i just seem more attracted to them as i am sure everyone else is. I enjoy trying to get the brazilian games since a lot of them are titles that I had for the newer systems. The sms is the only system that I use now, my x-box and gamecube just basically don't do much for me anymore lol, ill talk to you all soon, later...ant ;D

Hi everybody!! I’d like to formally introduce myself. My name is Alberto, I’m 21 years old and I live in South America. I’m studying to become a systems analyst. My hobbies include reading, drawing and collecting fossils. I also enjoy swimming, which is the only sport I practice. The Master System was the second console I ever had (the first one was an Atari 2600, which I gave to a young cousin – great mistake, since he gave it away too, and now it is lost, or perhaps resting in a dump). When my parents gave me the SMS, I wasn’t very pleased, because I was waiting for them to bring me a Mega Drive, but when I actually began playing I immediately fell in love with it. It was my only console for many years until I bought a NES, and later a Sega Genesis, my last console. However, the SMS was always my favorite and it had a great impact in my childhood, inspiring me to make lots of drawings and ultimately to learn about programming (although I still have much to learn). Currently my Master System is up and running and I play with it from time to time. I lack the official joypads, though. They are all broken, so I use the Genesis’ instead. My Light Phaser and 3D glasses are fairly beaten up too, but they still work. I have 23 games in total, most of them from Tec Toy as you surely guessed. However, I don’t have any exclusive games from that company. I do have two American cartridges: Wonder Boy in Monster Land and Out Run. So that’s all for now, I’ll see you later!!!!
