I wasn't sure where to put this topic, so I figure I'll just stick it in here. I've been working on a collection program for SMS games. Now, keep in mind that I'm not all that smart when it comes to this stuff, so I ended up having to use VB.NET. What's the downside to that? Well, that leaves out any people that use an operating system other than Windows, and it also leaves out anyone that doesn't have the .NET framework 1.0. Anyway, here's what it is at this point: *Set up in an FTP style where you can add a game to the right (collection pane), and the button that points left just deletes the game selected in the collection pane. *Uses text files as a "kind of database" for the games for easy expansion by the user(any newly discovered games, etc) *Allows you to load games in these sets (All Games, EUR, USA, BRA, JPN, and Other) This is all based from the sega8bit database. *Select each game with the options of C, I, and B (Cart, Instructions, Box), and add to a pane that shows your collection of games. *Save and load your collection in a text file. That's all that comes to my mind right now. Oh, it doesn't put things in alphabetical order in the collection pane yet. Most of it was thrown together rather quickly, so there isn't much of my own customization to the look of it right now. I was just posting this to see if any of you would find this useful or not. If not, oh well, it's fun to do haha Here's a screenshot: Anyway, I'm relearning how to do all of this, and if there's any different kind of functionality you'd like me to add, let me know and I'll see if I can figure it out. I haven't messed with this in a couple of years, so I'm barely scraping by on some of this stuff haha Feedback and recommendations please!

It works on -
Vista, factory dot.net. XP SP2, with dot.net 1.1 XP SP2, with dot.net 2.0
Once again great little util, I was using a excel spread sheet that I programmed before, I'm going to migrate to this little fella.

I try to open it up but it doesn't know what program to launch it with. I have a version of the .NET framework, but still no dice. Any ideas?

Is it the .7z file that you can't open? If that's the problem, here's the solution: 7zip.org

Whoops on that one! Had no idea that was a compressed format. The program runs great, Roth, I liked the little SMS system you put at the bottom too - nice touch. One suggestion I could offer would be to provide the option to remove the game from the games list once it has been added to the collection. That way, if you aren't worrying about documenting doubles and such, then you would be able to see the titles you still need, rather than having to refer to your haves list to deduce from there. Could be an interesting addition. That and maybe add the variants as well. Like for NTSC the blue labels, the cartridge misspellings (Mono Poly vs. Monopoly) etc. I can provide you with a list if it would help. Otherwise, great job!

I just noticed it was a text file that could be modified, so never mind with the NTSC updates. I've updated mine and corrected a few other things there, so this one here should be definitive:

Thanks for the updated list! I just noticed that I forgot to put in the documentation that you can remove games from your collection in the program. Click the game under My Collection, and click the arrow pointing left. It doesn't insert the game into the region list, but it removes it from your collection list

Hey guys, this isn't too much of an update, but I noticed that I had made these small changes before and never uploaded it. You can optionally have the region attached to the beginning of each game (All or Other don't attach anything, only EUR, JPN, BRA, and USA), there are menus in each pane when you right-click now, and grolt's list from however long ago he posted it up there is now in the download. hehe I'm pretty behind on this thing : P Anyway, I don't know if anyone still uses this or not, but I figured I'd let you guys know. You can grab the newest version on my site, as well as the older version. Here are direct downloads for you: version2: robertlbryant.com/programs/download/SMS_Collect_ver2.7zversion1: robertlbryant.com/programs/download/SMS_Collect_ver1.7zAlso, I just now thought about the platforms that rainmun said he tested on up there. Out of sheer laziness, I will update the readme with that on version3 hehe If any of you still use this or something, and want extra stuff added in, lemme know and I'll see what I can do. EDIT: Oh, the small page I have for this prog can be found here: robertlbryant.com/programs/index.htm
