Hey Rupert, on SMS II boxes in Europe is the orange-tipped gun ever pictured? It is actually pictured on on the edge of the case for the North American release - that's really the only physical packaging I've seen to acknowledge it.
to my knowledge it wasnt. I'd like to be corrected and have somthing else to find
That is one nice set! The base system I've only seen boxed once lately and I've only seen the orange-tipped gun separately. Usually sold as an add-on for sms II's. U.S. sms II's are extremely rare here and seldom work, circuit boards crack. Does your Strider have multiple languages on back? Also should try to get Cool Spot. That was one of the last ones here.
Nothing says America like pistons the size of coffee cans turning dead dinosaurs into hydrocarbons!
Does your Strider have multiple languages on back?
Yes, it has multiple languages since it was never localized by Sega of America. They just brought in European versions and slapped on a bar code sticker. That reminds me, I should take a picture of my bar codes, since other than the impossible to find Sonic the Hedgehog bar code sticker, I've got them for all the other end of the line Euro imports (Strider, Golden Axe Warrior and Spider-man).
Thanks for the info! A seller at a flea market had a Cool Spot for sale in late '90's so I wasn't sure on that one. Was still able to buy master games from S.C.I. (service concepts) when they handled Sega's parts business until early 2K's. I had bought at least 5 games and Strider was the only one with multi-language insert.
Heh, it's only small compared to several members' Master System collections here, but I suppose I've carved my niche in focusing on all the US variants and peripherals.
I need to update the pictures though, since I've acquired additional systems and am coming close to finishing off European and Mark III collections as well. It's always a work in progress, even when you think you're done!
