Ive got a friend in the USA who wants to know if he buys a uk pal sms 2 and has it shipped over to the usa will it work?
Obviously the power supply is different so could he use a usa power brick or is that a no go?
Then there is the 50/60 hz thing, will it actually display on a crt tv over there?
Basically, will it work?
Thanks

He can safely use a USA power brick. But he needs to check if the TV supports a 50Hz signal. Search for TV specs or in the settings. Otherwise a PAL/NTSC converter may do the work.
I think it's better to avoid a SMS-2 in general because of the RF only connection. The SMS-1 has better image quality and it's easier to connect. Preferably with either Alex Kidd or HangOn & Safari Hunt built in. Those two models with the later VDP will play everything that the SMS-2 does.

A modded SMS with av or a five pin din socket for a Sega SMS MK1 scart cable and the 50/60hz switch would be viable.
eBay.co.uk often has modded sms2's for sale

He'd better off buying a genesis 1 with a master system converter.
