I recently acquired lucky dime caper limited edition boxed set and wanted to learn more about it background. I stumbled across James Costello's (aka rupert) which gave a pretty good description but wondered if anyone knew anything else about this one please? I'm interested to know when and how it released. How many were made perhaps and also so if it came out anywhere else or was it just in the UK? Did Sega release this in conjunction with a film releasing or something perhaps?
Would love to hear what people know about this one. Thanks

Congratulations! I don't know too much about the LDCBS other than it was sold in UK stores like Tandy back in the day and was genuinely a limited edition release. Presumably it didn't sell too well as a mail order company called Telegames ended up with a ton of them and sold them off for £15 a pop!

Nice one this is a piece that’s been alluding my collection for years. Annoyingly I’ve got 2 copies of the poster that’s included

I'd be very interested in one of those posters buddy if you decide you don't need 2. Thanks Oli

For the story, telegames also sold at the end of the 90s a bunch of copies of the pal version of Primal Rage for the 32x and a couple of copies of the pal version of Kizuna Encounter for the neo geo. Those were the times T_T

That's very cool, I also learnt that at some point there was another tape cassette made for Jungle Book just on it's own. Not a limited edition though. James Costello's website is pretty cool for info as well.

I just found this forum and have a question about the Lucky Dime Caper Special Edition. I am cleaning out some old systems and games and found one of these editions that I've had for quite a while. There have been some storage issues - some box staining and a torn corner on the box, the set is new with the game, tee shirt and cassette still sealed, and the poster. Not sure how appropriate it is to ask, but I do want to sell the special edition. I can find little information about it except that it is rated here as very rare. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

These were selling for £1000 about 5 years back but the market for these has died down quite a bit now as most collectors who were willing to pay through of the nose for one now have one. I paid £500 for a good one about 3 years ago and have seen incomplete sets go for around the £200 mark. Yours is complete but has condition issues so I'd guess its worth somewhere between the 2 figures.
