I've been putting together a sms collection book. (for tracking purposes). I wondered whats anyone's thoughts on how close to true alphabetical order you like. I put ll the simpsons games in S including krustys fun house.
How many of you put Ayrton Sennas super Monaco gp in A or in S?
Similar to bubble bobble and rainbow Island or Castle of illusion and land of illusion Together or separate?

Alphabetical and then chronological, for pretty much all media really. Gaming I also separate by system, due to a combination of loose chronology and the practicality/aesthetics of varying box sizes. Ultimately though, it's how you personally make sense of it and how it fits in with why you're categorising it.
Note on alphabetical: generally this is a simple case of by title or band/artist. However I group based on a series where it makes sense to do so - no-one wants to fish through an A to Z for successive Marvel Cinematic Universe films, so they're grouped together and sit under "Marvel". In the questions posed, I would file Ayrton Senna under S for "Super Monaco GP" because that's the wider series it's part of. Similarly the Mickey Mouse titles would fit under M - characters are generally not shared so grouping under D for Disney does not make sense to me. But stylistically the various licenced Disney games could be considered a wider series, broken down alphanetically within that by character/tie-in title, it depends on how you feel about it.
Note on chronology: generally I will group by release date, but on occasion it makes sense to group by narrative chronology - such as Star Wars (see also for grouping by series, Rogue One is not going under R). In gaming I have the Resident Evil 2 remake before Resident Evil 5, for example. Similarly I'm sure no-one is ordering Assassin's Creed Syndicate before Unity because of the alphabet - the chronology within the series clearly takes precedence.

Thanks for your reply, thats generally what i do yes. I thought id ask for opinions as its a personal thing really, like i never remember why crash test dummies isnt in C and then i can't find it and then i suddenly remember its under I. I tried to stay true to the alphabet as to be none personal incase others download my list, but its very difficult and doesnt really work.

Thanks, great detailed reply. I completely get the Disney thing, i list them in alphabetical order like L for The Lion King but it still has its full title wrote out 'Disneys The Lion King'. And i agree it does not work with Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. I used to have Mickey in C because it was first thing id think of when thinking of the game but now i feel more familiar due to a few years collecting it has moved to M.
