So, to try to keep things somewhat brief, I was in contact with somebody I was interested in purchasing a US Sonic from to complete my full US set. I am reasonably confident that it's legit based on it having some wear and the underside of the UPC sticker being a darker color which I've read somewhere before is an indicator of authenticity. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a lapse in communication and when I checked in again, the UPC sticker apparently had fallen off (it was already peeling a bit before) though he does still have the UPC sticker.
I guess basically what I was wondering is for one thing what a fair price would be for the game at this point. Would it still retain at least most of its value or would it basically be worth little more than a European copy now? Also, could the UPC sticker still be reattached, or would that reduce its value more than just leaving it off and sticking it in the case?
I guess that the answers to these questions may be subjective, but basically despite my personal inclination of really wanting to obtain a copy to complete my set since they only seem to be getting more scarce as time passes, I don't want to end up spending a lot of money on something that probably wouldn't be worth it if I had to sell it down the line.

That sticker is the crux of the thing, that's why its so valuable, so if it's detached then it's not worth the high numbers you see regularly. If it's reattached it doesn't matter as far as value goes. Don't spend a lot on it and don't expect to get anything from it as an investment down the line.

I still have my problems with this one. The UPC is far too easy to fake. I still consider it an import. Without a verified UPC, and I don't know of anyone who's truly figured out a way to verify one, it's the same as the Euro release, which again verifies my consideration.
