I can understand the megadrive machine but the atari one, really?
I know we are all nostalgic about the sega master system but the games are still very playable. I had a 2600 in the 80's and tbh at the time it seemed great. Then I got my sega and even a few months down the line the 2600 seemed complete crap compared to it.
The thing that sticks in my mind most about the 2600 is that terrible joystick it came with. I remember breaking the one that came with it within weeks. Getting the master system was like going from a Lada to a Ferrari overnight!
I bet people who get one will soon stick it back in the box and on ebay.
Rant over - I didnt sleep well last night, can you tell lmao 😂

Also with the Atari one, the same games have been available many times before on ps2, ps4, xbox1 etc
I fear the genesis/MD one will be the same as previous incarnations, will stick to my everdrive

The MD one will be as bad as the others. Previous iterations played carts at the wrong speed - as though it read the NTSC ROM on the cart and forced it to run at 50 Hz, completely bypassing the PAL optimised ROM if present. It also has the disclaimer of playing "most" games. Onboard it's got the same selection of games we've seen Sega rolling out for years now... plus a bunch of aftermarket junk made for Chinese knock-off consoles - check out the list of games and you'll see a tonne you don't recognise.
Anything decent is already on the Mega Drive collection for PS360. Like that compilation it's not just MD games, but aside from Phantasy Star it's a different set - Game Gear Sonic games anyone?
With these shitty aftermarket emulation consoles, I really don't understand why anyone would want one - you can get the emulation side with even a Raspberry Pi, if you want to be able to plug your old carts in what's wrong with your old console??

The problem with the MD ones is two fold: 1. The sound is always terrible 2. Insufficient big name games/licenses
I have the ms/gg handheld, I paid £20 for it and for the price it is good enough, I would have paid up to £35 if it had SD card support.
A working MD, an everdrive (an official one) is about £100 altogether and a fair amount of work, but the work delivers better results

I will definitely be pre ordering the megadrive at games have seen how popular the nes mini was and upped their game , first off it actually looks like a megadrive so it's more marketable to people with a casual interest in gaming . The controllers have been improved , with 2.4G wireless instead of those infrared one's . The sound and picture should be way better now that they have retired the Firecore clone in favour of an ARM and an emulator . HDMI out is great for the living room or to take to a friend or family members house , Also save states is a nice new feature If anyone has an interest in this product get you pre order in or you will be buying from one of these lovely people at inflated prices

I think they are just novelties, the mega drive compilation game for Xbox, psp did get a lot of use. Maybe they should bring out a SMS compilation game for the latest consoles?

It seems TecToy took the risk first with a new cheaper Mega Drive, according to system's specs: www.tectoy.com.br/mega-drive/p/995040461825This will probably sell well in Brazil, even the quite high price. They also released a new Turma da Monica game. Re-releasing an old system with worse specs than original, is a total rip-off for me. There's no doubt why SEGA is out of the console market when they support products like this. Maybe it's a good financial movement for the company, but they're moving backwards. I got so frustrated when I came across this article. I don't see it from a business point of view, but wake up! You're not AtGames, you're SEGA.

Supposedly the sound issue is solved now with the new emulation engine. I think the big selling points of this new series of "flashback" consoles are - a nice 720p signal via HDMI (simulated scanlines optional); plays carts from any region; bluetooth controllers (with controller ports if you want to use your own official/classic controllers); save states and rewind feature. Unknown/doubtful - whether it will work with an Everdrive or a Power Base Converter.
I wish they wouldn't put the shovelware games on them, though, as it makes it less appealing. NES Mini proved that a good selection of games doesn't need to be padded out with that kind of stuff.

Yeah from the footage I've seen online the graphics and sound are now great This effort from atgames will be much more appealing to the non hardcore retro gamers compared to previous efforts due to the new features and design Like the nes mini these will likely sell like hot cakes , hopefully these will also be eventually hacked with more games added

How many more of those is ATGames throwing out?
They have already how many of those Atari things and at least 4 Mega Drive emulators and this here looks the same old stuff. Especially the Sega one: Once again no Super Hang-On or Super Monaco GP but instead it gets padded with flash/mobile games like Snake and Chess to get a high number of games. Kinda like false advertisement. This time it looks like they don't even include Sonic 3?!
The Atari one is the same, by now there have been compilations on all systems for the past 20 years. Game list also looks weird. No Pitfall 2?

Just watched John Hancock review this on youtube , Certainly looks way better than previous at game efforts , sound and picture look great , It's cool that they added some quality sms and game gear titles to the line up . You also got a nice selection of megadrive games plus it plays the original cart's in HD Going to get this for the living room , also somehow managed to pre order a snes mini so it will be interesting to see how they compare www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqonOoqAiMU
