I like it, and have the same or very similar poster anyways. Although mine is not on a wall (yet). Happy you get to have your man cave/game room. Mine is still a few years away. Shelving, seating, décor...mine seems a few years away from completion as well, but I am glad to have the space!

It's definitely worth having a think about the room layout at this stage. Think about practical things like where your console(s) will be - if you need to move power sockets (electrical outlets) it's easier to do that now before you decorate. Agreed! I have been planning this for a while now, but as soon as it is available, you seem to second guess and wonder if you can improve on the original idea. Couch/Futon placement/ flooring/ wall color/ décor it is a lot to consider.

The more power sockets the merrier - I have four doubles. They are all behind where the TV unit will go so I decided to have the electrician wire in a set of four switches over to the right at mid height, this means I can turn some of all off without having to bend over behind the TV unit (see pic on first page)
Also, consider a wired network if you are planning to have current consoles in - get any wiring done first before anything else.
If you wall mount a flat screen TV, the top of the tv should be at the same height as your head when sat in whatever you sit on, maybe a touch higher. So don't walk in and just stick the TV at chest height from standing, chances are that's too high. I see people with TVs mounted WAY to high.

As retrobob said you need alot of sockets.. I had 8 with 2 empty and i now have 0 left. Also sockets with built in usb sockets are great for charging mobiles etc.

I think what you will need to plan out for a general man cave is different to a games room.
In terms of decor, a man cave will be devoted to all hobbies, so in my case a decent dvd/blu ray player and movie posters as well as games stuff, also a comfortable sofa or chair for reading and maybe a music system as well.
What consoles do you own/want set up? you mentioned there is a closet in the room, do you want odds and ends (spare cables, rarely used consoles) in there or is everything to go on display?
Will the room be used for other hobbies? Who will be invited in, i.e will it be you only or are friends/kids/wife going to be coming in?

Off the top of my head I own: Sega master System I and II, Genesis model II, Dreamcast, (2) PlayStation I, PlayStation II (slim and fat) GameCube, Retron 5. Movies will be a must. I am also a Doctor Who fan, Marvel fan, Star Wars fan, Godzilla fan, Robert E Howard (author). It will definitely be used for all my hobbies that do not require large work spaces.
