Will it work? Specifically the 3008-15 adapter with the SMS1 NTSC. I'm asking because buying "naked" NTSC console is the only way to not pay an outragous sum. eBay prices for retro are typically terrible and I'm from Europe, so I don't have access to any local forums and stuff where i can pay "normal" price. alternatively, maybe one of you guys can sell a NTSC SMS model 1 with pads and power adapter for a normal price and ship it for less than 20 bucks to Europe? cheers

I don't know if the adaptor will work but someone here is bound to know for sure. This second part is hilarious though...a SMS shipped to Europe with pads and adaptor for under $20? LOL!!!! It cost me $22.75 to ship a single CIB game to Germany last month. That was bare bones shipping, no insurance and no tracking. (It did arrive safely) Never going to find shipping that cheap my friend.

Well, the shipping prices from US to Europe vary greatly @ ebay, so I'm guessing there may be a cheaper option.

It will be fine, I did the same myself. I can't remember where I got it now, but I bought a loose US system for my collection and just use a Euro power supply. I use the same 1 or 2 power supplies for all my SMS consoles, including those from Brazil and Japan too.
If you just want to play games in 60hz speed, its easy enough to mod a Euro console to do it, the SMSII is a bit tricky but the original SMS1 is quite simple.

One of the great things about the SMS is that there is no real need for 60Hz. The SMS library is very PAL-centric and a standard PAL SMS + Everdrive will run most SMS/SG-1000 games without issue.
I have an RGB modded SMS 2 with the 50/60 Hz mod but, most of the time, I feel more at home with an unmodded PAL system and there really isn't that much to justify getting a 60Hz system in comparison to other consoles.

playgeneration I always thought that SMS1 is not moddable? and SMS2 has an inferior graphic/sound output/no RGB support (can't remember which one, I checked ages ago) but is easily moddable? If it's possible to mod the SMS1 in a simple way to output 60Hz, that would be obviously way better than importing an expensive US console. Is there some guide around to show me how-to? SMS1 PAL is cheap in my country and if I could make it work at 60hz, it would solve all the problems! englishinvader You may be right but by default I either mod my consoles, or buy NTSC ones if possible, because I can't stand the PAL "slowdown". I know there are games optimized for PAL (or consoles that have software 50/60Hz "switches" like Dreamcast or Gamecube) of course but with retro I usually just stick to NTSC to avoid checking which game runs fine in PAL and which is a crappy port with choppy framerate.

SMS1 is easy to mod, its as simply cutting through a trace and soldering three solder pads on the board to a switch. I've done it quite a few times now. Had a quick look and this is a good guide: www.mmmonkey.co.uk/download/sega-master-system-1-5060hz-mod-four-x/I wouldn't worry about getting different colour wires though, bit pointless. Many games do still play better in 50hz in my opinion, and some have a lot of graphical errors and such in 60hz speed. Its really good to have the option though and well worth doing the mod.
