Spaceships and giant robot fish, it sums it up nicely I reckon! No way! Okay, now if you didn't know it was a shooter, what would you think of it JUST seeing that iamge? And it's not clear the ships are, in fact, ships. The fish could be any old thing really. Maybe they're deep sea fish and this is some sort of diving game! You could say similar for any other cover though - is a bloke with a sword Golden Axe, Golden Axe Warrior or a text adventure? It says no less about the game than most, really. I think the art for Sagaia (well, Darius strictly!) looks striking enough for potential buyers to look at the back and see exactly what the game is like from the screenshots.

Psychic World and R-Type are easily the best covers in this group, I went with Sonic for my 3rd choice, I guess I have a soft spot for that cover. My dad drew me a copy of it when I was 6 and I had it framed on my wall lol I still have it to this day, brings back great memories

Bonanza Brothers: I think it's interesting and balanced (maybe nostalgia gets me - almost 25 years ago, I got a magazine with a cool ad for BB: "I'm Mobo/Robo, who the hell are you?") Sonic: good basic cover Sagaia: might win the whole thing
Almost voted: Dragon, R-Type

Sonic, Castle of Illusion, Jungle Book. I bought all these games as a kid, almost based entirely on the impression I got from the boxes.

The Jungle Book - Balu! The bear is awesome And i love the movie R-Type - It's the classic R-Type cover, shooting action, makes you wanna by the game Sagaia - Same, i don't care if it's just a nonsense painting of weird insectoid space ships it looks amazing and that is all that matters. The cover probably worked the best for the young target audience of games back then
