The holidays have been kind to me. As I stated in another thread I was very pleased to win a PAR on eBay. To add to this my partner was kind enough to get me some other amazing gaming goodies for Xmas. Fire & Forget II was one of my favourite games as a kid so it's great to have it back into my collection. No doubt I will lose a few evenings to each of these over the next few weeks/months/years. Am loving the collecting but have noticed bargains on eBay seem very much slim pickings at the moment, the amount of stuff on there seems to have fallen, maybe this is a seasonal trend or just there's less stuff up for grabs as it enters collections to be never seen again. Anyway, hope everyone has had a great holiday season. I wish you all a great 2016, full of health, happiness and of course the SMS! ...199

Ive got duplicates will post up list shortly by the way holiday season is a bug bearer its Christmas and will always be called Christmas ahh but to be "politically correct" one must use the term happy holidays and not Merry Christmas. Remember not all of the world is Christian. I'm not implying that anyone here is or isn't either. We must remember to be respectful to all religons!

I agree with you on a personal level. I never thought of saying happy holidays until maybe 10/15 years ago. I was raised to wish people a Merry Christmas not happy holidays. As I have gotten older and become a business owner, father and coach, I understand the need to be politically correct. I don't want to alienate any of my potential customers, nor do want to encourage my children or student athletes to be disrespectful or unaccepting of others. As messed up as things are here in the U.S. and all over the world for that matter, there is something to be gained by being respectful and accepting to all races, creeds, colors, religions and so on. Nuff said on my part, I'll let this die off now. Sorry again soup for going off topic in your thread. Good luck with your ten year plan. Nice score on your recent acquisitions, especially the PAR!

If you are patient enough you can get most of the rarer games for decent prices, there was a CIB Masters of Combat that sold on eBay a couple of months ago for around £60, the seller had done a typo in the title so not a lot of people noticed it. I've managed to get a lot of the rarest ones this way.

Massive Update ... I've been really busy over the last few weeks so have been unable to post upon receiving a few new games, instead have saved the update for now. I was given a little xmas money and with my partners blessing put it to good use sourcing some very good condition SMS stuff. After scoring Out Run 3D I made it my mission to get a set-up for the 3D games to work on (I already have Maze hunter and Zaxxon 3D from a bundle last year.) I successfully scored two SMS 1’s; one with Alex-Kidd, the other Safari Hunt / Hang-on. With these I got a pair of working 3D glasses and light gun (Which works a lot better than I remember, maybe my aim's got better?) I was also lucky to find an as-new 21” CRT for the Safari Hunt console. (Alex Kidd console is set up on main tele which isn’t phaser or 3D friendly.) Side note - Getting the CRT has also put me on the path to finding a G-con gun so I can wire up a playstation and re-live the awesomeness or Point Blank and Time Crisis etc. The consoles also came with 2 decent original pads which is great as my old one had lost the D-pad, so I’d been using either a control stick (Which seems backwards) or a SMD pad. On top of all this I’ve managed to snag quite a few games, all at (what I think are) bargain prices:
After Burner - CIB Castle of Illusion - CIB Chase H.Q. - CIB GP Rider - CIB Jungle Book - CIB Jurassic Park - No Ins Lord of the Sword - No Ins Moonwalker - No Ins Mortal Combat II - Cart only (Made reproduction sleeve and re-boxed) Ms Pacman - CIB Operation Wolf - CIB Predator 2 - CIB Shadow Dancer - No Ins Shadow of the Beast - CIB Space Harrier 3D - CIB
Anyway, with funds depleted, it’s back to trying to snag the odd bargain here and there. It feels great to have put together my dream set-up on a budget and I’m loving the games, many of which I missed as a kid. Finally a little confession, I have set a new record, breaking my £5 per game max. For one of the games above I did pay £5.51. (Can you guess which one?) I know for some titles in the future I’m going to have to blow this budget but for now it’s been working pretty good.

Was kind of an impulse buy as I really fancied a fighting game at the time. I'm sure there's some irony with this currently being my most expensive game as it really isn't a very good. Space harrier 3d came in a bundle with the specs etc, literally owes me £2-£3 max. Out Run 3D was a lucky local(ish) find, the cart itself has seen better days but it plays fine, I offered the guy a fiver and he accepted, happy days! I know quantity wise I'm well ahead of plan but to be honest the likes of Championship Hockey, Smurfs 2, Masters of Combat, Home Alone, Buggy Run, etc, kind of scare the hell out of me. I'll be more than happy to roll ten years worth of flukey bargains into completing this collection as I believe the last 30-40 games I'm likely to need will probably be far harder to sensibly acquire that all the rest.

Hello guys and girls! I'm still here, haven't disappeared completely, just had a few busy months. Over the past six or so months my collecting has slowed somewhat, however I have picked up a few more games for the collection, albeit nothing particularly rare. It's still nice to feel I'm chipping away at my goal.
Air Rescue (CIB) Aztec Adventure (CIB) Bomber Raid (Cart only) Dracula (Cart only) Gauntlet (No ins) Sensible Soccer (Cart only) Shooting Gallery (Cart only) Super Space Invaders (No ins)
Wish it was a bit more of an update for the time that's passed, but guess this is a marathon and not a sprint from my point of view. Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the system as much as I am. (And other systems for that matter!) All the best...

Still around? Hows the 10 year plan going? Anymore good finds? Heyya, yeah, I'm still here. Bit of a slow time of year for me collecting. As I love pretty much all gaming, with the AAA titles released ahead of the holidays, I find myself somewhat distracted from a lot of the more retro stuff for a couple of months. Have only picked up one further title towards the collection: Forgotten Worlds. I know, that really is terrible for about three months but that's part of the reason I declared it a ten year goal, I certainly haven't given up. It's pretty near enough a year since I started this, and I'm pleased to have crossed off 37 titles (211-174) in the first twelve months. For the next twelve months I'd be happy to capture maybe another twenty-five titles, fingers crossed. I hope you are all doing well, and as ever, enjoying all things gaming. ...174
