Yeah Ive always included Mahjong as well as it is PAL, thats why when I started collecting for a full PAL set I searched high and low for it to get it out of the way early. I've got that one and Sapo Xule, guess I will need the purple Gamebox Esportes aswell then Would you not need to have ALL the Purple games as well by that logic? The rest of the "purple" games were already released in Europe in the standard "white" box art.

can anyone confirm if Sapo Xule: S.O.S. Lagoa Poluida was a European release, I'm only going for a uk set. Retrocollect have recently added this to my list off missing games, I too am going for a full UK set, there do seem to be varying lists but have found the list of 'Mean machines reviews' a couple of places down on this forum to be an exact match with the list I have as my definitive goal. Hope this is correct and helps.

Back to the original question: conventional wisdom tended to be that there are 269 unique games released in Europe (on a technicality I suppose you could add the two Portuguese Tec Toy games mentioned above). I'm pretty certain Les Schrtoumpfs Autour du Monde was never released in the UK, so those going for a "UK set" could call it 268 games. Then again, those going for a "PAL set" could also include another 32 Brazilian games, as well as Mah-Jong/Mak-Jong. Part of the confusion probably stems from the interchangeable use of PAL and Euro. In the end, it doesn't really matter - far too much emphasis is put on "full set" collecting these days. People should be happy just to collect in their own way.

True, PAL set and Euro set are different in my opinion, some say for a full Euro set you need all the variants. But like you say it's better if everyone collects their own way, simple things like retrocollect adding a couple of new games to their list has caused some people to lose their minds and pay WAY over what these games are worth! (Over £150 for Sapo Xule and £100 for Gamebox)

My own collecting goals will always be revolving. I began with wanting the games I owned/remember from when I was a Kid. A full uk set is a goal I now plan to achieve , then it will be another goal. I'm becoming more disillusioned with current generation gaming and in future I will be spending more of my time & spare cash on the retro stuff.

Great Soccer (card) never released in the UK either. As for Brazil, whilst it technically uses PAL colour encoding, it's a 60Hz region like the US. France is SECAM (although French SMSs are RGB only), but when people refer to PAL and NTSC in video games they generally mean 50Hz and 60Hz, which is what can cause issues when playing games from one region on a machine from another. When Sega enforced software regions on the Mega Drive/Genesis Brazil was NTSC-U (60Hz/En). Anyway, as you say, just collect what you want to.
