This is my beast, 32" of POWER! Only cost £20 and a broken spine getting it up a flight of stairs. Came with the stand though and it's really an amazing bit of kit. I have the same TV and stand. Or at least something very close 32" Sony Vega

thats mine 14 inches of mayhem yes, that is a vhs player built in I have one that looks like that just in black I've been thinking of getting a Bang and Olufsen MX4000 21" tv instead though, I heard they should have a good Picture and sound quality, and be rather good for retrogaming use. I've seen around 6 of these sets at a second hand store for a 10£ each, and they seem quite nice (most of them with a Black frame) Apart from that: For interested germans I found this article about it a while ago too: www.nexgam.de/Hardware/Bang-Olufsen-MX4000-7000.html

That Samsung GX looks nice however for the place I'll be having the one I just bought, one like that would most likely not be a good fit . I really like the look of that Bang & Olufsen tv korax! Only downside with the tv I bought was that there was no remote, I have a "all in one" remote however none of the codes give me the full features the original remote would .

I had a TV which required two separate codes on a universal remote, so you might have to live with flipping between two settings In my old case, the channels, VHS and Teletext functions were on one with the service menu and tuning on another!

The only codes available for the tv make for the remote I have, I've tested and they both only work partially, and both have different menu actions that work... It's not a huge deal though really . The most important actions work so that's really more than good enough

Bumping this thread.. I regret not looking around more back when I first created this post.. I still have the small tv set I picked up back then, but I'd like something bigger (just not too big) but seems the charity shops that accept larger appliances no longer seem to be taking on CRTs (either that or people are just no longer bringing them). Has anyone hunted down any CRTs lately in the UK? Did you just hunt them on ebay? Any tips would be great . I regret taking my perfectly sized Panasonic to the recycle centre back in 2010 before I moved from Norway.. Should've just kept it in storage

I'm also on the look out for a CRT, my wife however is not keen on the idea at all. I had an awesome Sony TV back in the day (took 2 people to life the thing) and really wish I hung onto it now, but hey hindsight is every collectors nightmare.
Peder I highly recommend you try Facebook marketplace, at the moment there is an awesome Bang and Olufson TV in Edinburgh for £60 with a note that the TV cost £5k new! Probably too far for you to trek for a TV but there's bound to be something locally as there are a ton of them on there (literally hundreds, many free for collection). If nothing locally stick a wanted notice on it and you will have one in no time.
Failing that try the local council tip, ours has a huge container that's always full of old TV's alas despite my persuasion the damned wife just wont get out the car and collect one for me !!!!
I'm fussy and patient so have put out feelers to family and friends for one and ill see what comes up. If nothing then its FB Marketplace for me.

But thought it maybe wasn't legal to take stuff from the recycle centre.. Don't know about the legality of it all, chances are health and safety will have something about the items being PAT tested however no one really polices these containers. I'm sure if you went and spoke to one of the workers and explained that you are after spare parts and sling a fiver their way they will oblige. Failing that just lift one ninja style and get it in the boot and speed away Thats true recycling !

Here in the UK back in the CRT era we only had 14 inch 20/21 inch 25 inch 28 inch Persistence is the key, along with making offers on eBay. Set your desired distance and be prepared to wait. Don't try and get one from the tip, not worth any potential hassle as the tips are run on the basis that anything you take out of your car is their property. Plus an eBay/gumtree seller has obligations to describe things honestly. Getting something out the tip is in my eyes equal to raiding someone's bin
