I currently live in South Wales but have pretty much no idea where to look for these older CRT tvs that are on the smaller side. (I've found plenty 20"+ locally, but they're just way too bulky for my workstation).
I've found many on places like ebay but pretty much ever single one of them are just located too far away from where I live for it to be affordable to go collect them. (they are collection only).
Any ideas for places I could potentially find a decent unit without having to travel miles to collect it?

I still see them from time to time in charity shops and at car boot sales. I expect if you put up a local "wanted" ad then you'd get a few calls.

A lot of people just chuck them. Freecycle is a good bet, CRTs are heavy enough that sone people won't go to the tip just for them so maybe you can get one that way.
Maybe try your local recycling centre too, in case people are chucking out working ones!

I find that on ebay if you specify a distance of less than 5 miles there is everything that can be picked up quickly and easily, plus if you need a taxi, the fare is about £10 each way or less. There are buy and sell groups on facebook as well, freecycle has been mentioned but I have never used it successfully, gumtree could work too. Personally I would stick to charity shops if possible.
If you want me to help give me a shout and I will do anything I can, plus I can see if the guys from other sites can help you find something. Where in wales are you?

Have a look in the bigger charity shops that specialize in furniture. I recently bought a nice Sony CRT specifically for use with my Master System from the British Heart Foundtion shop in Swansea. They had a decent selection and all tested. I got bored of waiting for one to turn up on ebay.

playgeneration yeah, I think there's one of those charity shops not too far away from me! Might check it out tomorrow while my car is at the garage.

If the British heart foundation doesn't provide any results let me know and I'll leap into action.
If my crt broke they would be my first place to try as I live near one of their large stores

Thanks guys, I picked up a small one today for a fiver! . They never really had any really nice ones there though but this one is a nice small size and will fit nice on my new workstation when I move house in a couple months time. Picture and sound also seems to be pretty decent .

£5 is a bargain, was it a decent set?
Small crt sets that work can be irritating to get, as most people kept them until they broke or didn't take good care of them. Worst of all are people that want £40 for a set that I know only cost £60 new when I used to sell them.

It was down from £10. It's a DIGILOGIC, coming from Norway I've never even heard of this make before but, it seems to be in perfect order and as I said the picture and sound seems pretty decent so for £5 that's good enough for me . I'll be keeping my eyes open for one that is a little bit larger though, but this easily covers all my needs atm .

They were decent enough sets, they were sold exclusively through Tesco (our biggest supermarket chain). If it has been well looked after and the picture is decent then £5 is a bargain, you did better than me, my gaming crt cost £7.50

This is my beast, 32" of POWER! Only cost £20 and a broken spine getting it up a flight of stairs. Came with the stand though and it's really an amazing bit of kit.
