The condition isn´t great, there are some marks of usage on the top: Not sure if it´s worth the money. i've never seen a seal like that before, if its slightly loose the wear on the top will have come from that. if you are taking the seal off and playing the game, it will just be a copy with an amount of wearfor 25 euros my suggestion of sampras 96 was based on uk prices (3 euros +shipping, it appears its nearly 10 times that amount in germany ) i can send you a copy from here if you want?

Do all genesis/mega drive games/systems have some form of regional lock out? I believe it was every game that was released after december 1992 is region locked. i've never seen a seal like that before, if its slightly loose the wear on the top will have come from that. if you are taking the seal off and playing the game, it will just be a copy with an amount of wearfor 25 euros my suggestion of sampras 96 was based on uk prices (3 euros +shipping, it appears its nearly 10 times that amount in germany ) i can send you a copy from here if you want? Yes that´s it. You can easily get a copy in better condition for less money. I don´t want just a tennis game; I was looking at Youtube which game impresses me most, and ATP Tour is really nice with all the legends and players from the 90´s That´s why I am looking for that game specifically.

Do all genesis/mega drive games/systems have some form of regional lock out? The Mega Drive itself has no region lock whatsoever. Region lock is implemented into the cartridges. Sega started region locking in late November 1992 in the USA (games like Streets of Rage II, World of Illusion) and January 1993 in Europe. Though that doesn't mean that all games are locked. Not even all Sega games. Sonic & Knuckles for example has no region lock and you can actually combine a PAL Sonic & Knuckles with a US Sonic 3 and it would run just fine, whereas if you just put the US Sonic 3 into a european Mega Drive it wouldn't start. While some Publishers either never used region locking (Electronic Arts for example), some used it on all their games (Konami) while others only used it partial (like Acclaim, Mortal Kombat 3 has region locking, while the WWF games don't) and some even started before Sega with locking their games, like Virgin with Speedball 2. What about the Retron consoles? Thanks. Completely region free since the Retron (and all those other things) are nothing more than emulators disguised as a console. (On a sidenote i can only say: Don't buy the Retron 5, even if you don't care about accuracy in graphics and sound, the thing is horribly build, especially the NES slot gets worn out very fast, the Firmware it gets delivered with is usually outdated and even updating it doesn't kill all compatibility problems and there are a lot and there's the baffling decision of putting the NES Gamepad ports on different sides, so you can't use the NES Advantage properly...)

Thanks for the info... Next question, what about game gear games?

Next question, what about game gear games? Game Gear games are completely region free. You can play any GG game on any GG.

With md games there should be a fairly accurate list of what is and is not region locked

You can also experiment via emulator (if you use Kega Fusion)i.e. run a US game in EU mode and if a US NTSC Systems Only message comes up the game is region locked.

Let´s bring this topic to a good end: Paid 12€ including shipping. Too bad the backup battery was empty and I had to pay 10€ more to replace it Very expensive, I am tempted to learn how to do it on my own. ATP Tour is a very good, but extremely easy game. Even the best players like Pete Sampras and Rod Laver are easy to beat. I can beat Stefan Edberg 6:0 and 6:0 with an average player. Otherwise it has great sounds, good graphics and mostly good controls. There are are lot of tennis players from the 90´s involved and I like that a lot. Sadly players like Andre Agassi or Boris Becker aren´t involved. Good game overall, maybe very good in 2 player mode.

No love for David Crane's Amazing Tennis? Not really, because I prefer the classic TV angle in tennis games.
