Actually you can beat Mandara with the shurikens (which you start the game with); ian even made a video about that a while ago and posted it here at the forums. And the gun is the fastest weapon! But I have to agree, beating the Masked Ninja after getting there only a handful of times before was certainly a very rewarding experience... which was almost completely ruined by the brutal, mono-phased subsequent "GAME OVER" on the screen.

I think rupert summarized it pretty well. I for one can't tell what's hard to get in terms of eBay, but if you consider MercadoLivre, quite a few games are hard to find. And if you also have variations in mind, it's worse. The last example we had there on Sega-Brasil concerning the "region thing" rupert said was with a half-blue, plastic box reissue of Shinobi. I posted a picture of my copy and a user from across the country here said he had never seen it before; others eventually said it was unknown for them as well. But over here where I live this version of the game was fairly common; I remember at least 4 or 5 copies within my neighborhood. Some cousins of mine from other cities within the same state also had copies... and yet people from big cities like São Paulo and Porto Alegre had never seen it.
On the variation side I personally track down plastic box reissues of games originally released in cardboard boxes; those are definitely not easy to spot. But that aside, the games already mentioned are indeed somewhat rare -- Shadow of the Beast, Dragon Maze, Rainbow Islands (another one which used to be common in my city), Fantasy Zone games. A few others are Dynamite Duke, Ace of Aces, Jogos Olímpicos, Astérix and the Secret Mission, Mission Impossible...

Big bump...
Isn't it time again for the Christmas logo on the site/forum...?

Managed 12.2 meters. Weird (and funny) little game.

Well, I guess they must have their own celebration somewhere else... I mean, an official one, of course; but then again it's probably not public so yeah, it's a bit weird.

Aaaaaarrgh, I can't believe it!! My goodness, it was so close... If Glock had only managed to hold it for a few more meters Massa would've got it... what an ending. Well, congrats, Lewis.

Hmm... cardboard box it once was, then. Thank you again for the pictures; glad we could sort this one out.

I'm back home and I've just opened it - yet I'm still not 100% sure what the deal is with it... After ripping off the shrink wrapping, I first thought it was a re-seal becase the cover wasn't particularly clean. But when I opened the case, it all looked new - the cartridge doesn''t appear to have been used and the manual seems untouched. It even has the Tec Toy technical assistance numbers (or whatever) sheet. As for the insert itself... I'm not sure. It does have two creases down either side of the spine - but they could just be there to help fit it into the sleeve, as it is thicker than normal inserts. It also seems slightly taller than the card-boxed Tec Toy games I've got. That's not really helpful, is it? In short; I'm stumped. Well, heh... if you could take pictures of the insert alone (internal and external sides) I'd appreciate; maybe we could tell it from there. We have been compiling a Tec Toy SMS release list over at Sega-Brasil and we'd have to know for sure what kind of release is that one since a few of us there have a mysterious nice-looking-well-cut-but-yet-cardboard release of Maze Hunter 3D... and we don't know where did they come from. Thanks for doing it.

Hey, Aypok, is that Maze Hunter 3D really a plastic box release or is it derived from a cardboard box release?

I like metal; favorite band is Judas Priest. I also listen to Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Angra, Van Halen, Satriani, Vai and whatnot. I have to say though that my all-time favorite band doesn't play metal -- it's Dire Straits. Knopfler is such an unique guy.

Yes, they are homemade. There's a guy on MercadoLivre that has been selling some carts like those for a while, now (he says on the auction that they're homemade, it's not like he's trying to fool anyone).
