Evolution is always important guys That´s absolutely correct, but most of the people who play old video games do it for nostalgic reasons. Everybody should play those games like he wants - 50 or 60Hz. That is not a reason for insulting anybody. live and let live |

The pure way of playing anything is to have fun doing it! There is no fun in being told you are wrong. Play the games the way you want to play them. That is what they are for. Purist is playing it out of the box using the things that were included only, and on the TV sets available at the time. Modding the system is far from " Purist "

Ah ah, hard time to remember this story about James Buster Douglas, I remember now, I was really mad (and the guy who done that was really stupid). Ok guys, I don't know in your country but ''gay'' and ''sh*t'' are not insult I don't understand the censure about sh*t but well, I guess there is not to much liberty on this forum. My tutorial is about perfection, if you don't like playing your favorite system like that it's not my problem and when you try to argue on some point I'm just felling like Galileo Galilei. |

I think it's fine to post this stuff to show how you can get the cleanest picture. That said, some may have nostalgia for a murky mess (not me). Yeah as someone referenced above, gay isn't really an insult anymore, makes you look a bit silly.

The Topic title is even worse now. Purist means "to use an item true to its essence and free from adulterating or diluting influences". So in this case it would be to play the Master System right out the box with nothing changed or added. Meaning stock game pad, RF adapter and to make it perfect a mono CRT from the mid to late 80's. Also it's funny that you talk about "evolution" but then say "use the regular master system game pad". I think by now everybody knows that it is a rather mediocre game pad with a very bad D-Pad and a 3 Button Mega Drive Gamepad is a whole lot better. Same with playing games on the Mega Drive. Nothing wrong with that at all, there's a reason Sega made the console backward compatible using the same CPU. I don't know what's "funny" to use the Pause Button on the Console, unless it's right in front of you. It's still one of the absolute worst design decisions in console history (and i know a lot of other old consoles have this exact same flaw) But then again, according to the ridiculous opening post, i'm not a real gamers since my CRT isn't a Sony, Thomson (not Thompson btw.) or Philips but a Grundig, which i guess while being of Made in Germany quality, makes me a fake/non-true real gamer now.  Also, if you want to go with ridiculous high image quality why mention the Sony PVM? That's simply a waste of money when the Sony KV-XXFV310 since that line isn't all that more expensive and ultimately better than the PVM. But then again, if pure image quality is what your after, simply use your modern HTDV and buy the Framemeister XRGB-Mini for it, since it makes old console games look absolutely phenomenal on modern TVs. |

When I say evolution it's about evolution of the brain. 2 years ago I was anti-sony and it was impossible for me to accept a Sony TV at home. But now I know that is the best brand for screen CRT and I accept it.

I will always love the original pad even if it's not easy to use it on all games.
I don't know all brand of tv, but there is a lot who are cool too like Radiola, Telefunken... I'm sure there is good brands in Germany as it was for a time the best country for fridge, laundry machine...
I will never accept the fact to play on modern HDTV, I want skylines and I don't want them to be fake. And I don't like tv with programmed failure (pretty sure they all do that now, Samsung doing it for sure).

I don't know a lot about the ''gay'' word in England, but I will always remember my first english girlfriend from London saying at the phone with her mom: ''Mom you're so gay!''. Stuff like that stay, I think it's only use by really young people in England but it always be funny for me :/ |

I grew up with an SMS II, RF connection and 50hz. We had a 29" Panasonic CRT back in the day which I used to think was the cats knickers. These days I have an SMS 1 hooked up using a Din to Scart, still 50hz, and a 55" Samsung LED. It looks nice next to my PS4  Always used the original SMS pad, ive tried loads of others but always go back to it. I've got my original one still with bits of tennis racket handle towel grip stuck to the back! Hower the D pad is slighty worn now so tend not to use it anymore. As for the word 'gay', it is only used as an insult by children as far as i'm aware. At work 5 or 6 of my staff are gay and so is my boss, so reading it on here used as an insult is quite offensive to me. |

Sorry to everyone, I guess it was my post that sparked that gay discussion. It´s never good to use that word in a negative way! Revó mate, to start such a thread is a good idea. We all know about your great cartmodds and it´s just a normal thing that you are interested in new technical possibilities that we have today. No wonder, because you are much younger than the most of us here. I am not surprised as well that Master System games aren´t very nostalgic to you. (But you must try to understand that older people have ever real nostalgic feelings by playing video games on 80´s & 90´s systems) The way you´ve build up the thread was a bad idea, because of the things you wrote apart from the technical facts. You´ve earned a lot of criticism for that and I hope you will learn something after that experience Next time, to present the technical things only is the best way. |

You barge in here, creating a very arrogant and obnoxious topic where you basically tell that everybody has no clue and there's only one "true" way to use the Master System and you act as if you're the first person to know about RGB Scart and TV's/Monitors and how to connect a console to a Stereo. You don't even take into account, that for example, there are a few people from north america here who don't even use Scart since 99% of all US TV's don't have that connection. Then you continue to be extremely arrogant, rude and obnoxious and even use offensive terms. "I know i'm right cause i'm french", great opening line there. If it was your goal to come across as a very arrogant bottom hole, you did a mighty fine job. |

Ok cool. By the way the tv I have is a Sony KV-29FX20B. I looked about the Sony KV-XXFV310 you talk about. Sony PVM seems way better and I'm not saying that because it's more expensive. I know that people are doing YUV cable for most old console now, probably for the US market as RGB is still better than that. Seems also a better way to play on HDTV screen^^ If you don't know that french people are always right it's not my problem |

Gordman, don't apologise, it wasn't your post Panama, since you've taken the time to learn English, I'll teach you a couple of things. Firstly, gay is an expression used from around 2002 to 2010ish by people in the UK to refer to something as 'stupid' generally by anyone aged 12 to about 20. As the world is an ever-changing place, it's less used now as it can be offensive, but is more likely just to make the person using the phrase look stupid, though you are forgiven. I'm not a big fan of people acting a stereotype, and having been to France and seeing your wonderful capital I'm sure you'll appreciate that not all French people are as arrogant as you make out! Regarding TV choice, I play my games on a '22 LCD HDTV with MasterSystem Converter 1 plugged in via a stereosound RGB also plugged in to surround sound, and it looks and sounds amazing. It's also 50htz, which is a shame because Space Harrier must be better 60htz, but I can't turn back time and convince SEGA otherwise! Also, just be careful not to annoy from here, you may be redeemed! |

But Panama is only picking on you, that s the way he learns english ah ah! Actually I m sure the french translation of his words makes him less arrogant, just way more ironical. Yeah , in France we don t have the english sense of humour, but we sure gave the sarcasm style, especially these days....
