Everyone has their own views on whats great and whats not but I was wondering if people opinions where a bit my unanimous when it came to RPGs? Im playing through some games but left these to last as they are a bit more time consuming. I collect only the games I want to play rather than PAL sets so am cleaning up my collection as I play.

I've not played al the RPG's the system has to offer (and his is my favorite genre) but I enjoyed Phantasy Star (surprise!) the most. I also enjoyed Y's and Miracle Warriors. Miracle Warriors is a bit different in terms of game play. Once you get used to the game play it is a good game. Golden Axe Warrior is also great!

I have played all of them. Phantasy star is obviously the best. Ys is awesome for what it is (it really should have been paired with its second half to make it a complete game). Miracle warriors is quirky but really enjoyable once you start to get into it. Golden axe warrior is the best 8 bit Zelda clone made (Its better than Zelda itself). Golvellius is truly a game worth playing. It is also another Zelda type clone with added play styles. Dragon Crystal is .. decent. Nothing to write home about but at least giving a shot. Heroes of the Lance however is a horrible game and should be burned. Ultima IV is the best title in the series. Aztec adventure is promising. King's quest is kind of avoidable (unless you have some PC nostalgia). Wonder boy II & III are great in their own right.
I think I covered everything.

Most of the games named here truly aren't RPG's. King's Quest is an Adventure game, there's nothing "RPG" about it. Golden Axe Warrior, Golvellius, Lord of the Sword are Action-Adventure, because otherwise we should also count Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Wonder Boy 2-4 as RPGs
Dragon Crystal is a rogue-like RPG and a pretty mediocre one at that but also the only one on the console.
RPG is all about character generation, learning skills, doing Quests, having a party with you. Which you don't do in those games. There aren't any character classes or weapon specialization in those previously named games. So the only true RPG's on the Master System are: Ultima IV, Y's, Phantasy Star, Miracle Warriors and Heroes of the Lance. Heroes of the Lance is beyond horrible, all the other games are worth playing.

Most of the games named here truly aren't RPG's. That what I thought aswell and quite agree... I see theres a bit of debate on Miracle Warriors. Besides the screen flaw does it offer much different from Ys, PS & GAW?

I agree with your assessment of the true RPGs but I included the other titles I did just to basically cover everything.

only one I really played from start to finish was Miracle Warriors which was pretty fun... without the map I'd imagine it would be pretty difficult at times

I've only played Phantasy Star, but hopefully I can snag some more RPGs soon. Just like most people I feel Phantasy Star is absolutely amazing and a MUST PLAY for the Master System.

I like Golvellius the best, Spellcaster second and Phantasy Star third.

Ys is probably my favourite, but I love Dragon Crystal and Phantasy Star (or course).
